St Peter’s Sorgham Beer is a gluten-free beer imported from England by Eurobrew Inc. It is made of sorghum, not barley and is thus suitable for consumption by celiacs. The product has even received approval from Celiac UK, the charity for people with celiac disease, to carry their logo and license.

Sticking to a gluten-free diet is not always easy. It is hard enough to cook for yourself, but the challenge gets even harder when dining out or travelling. Hopefully, the last decade has seen an explosion in the understanding and awareness of celiac disease. Gluten free food and beverages such as St Peter’s Sorgham Beer are much easier to find and made according to higher standards.

Celiacs can now enjoy this brew distributed nationwide by Eurobrew Inc. It is a clean, crisp gluten-free ale with a pilsner style lager finish and aromas of citrus and mandarin from American Amarillo hops. The ABV is 4.2% and the beer will be supplied in the famous St. Peter’s 500ml flask.

At the annual tasting of Gluten Free beers held at the Angel Inn, Holmesfield, Derbyshire, held on July 9th 2007, over 40 tasters including CAMRA representatives, regular gluten free beer drinkers as well as beer enthusiasts who drink a repertoire of beers and ales, sampled gluten free beers from 16 brewers based throughout Europe. The beers were tasted blind and St. Peter’s Sorgham Beer was praised for its excellent flavour and drinkability from across the range of tasters.
