    Kellogg Debuts Gluten-free Corn Flakes, Special K in Australia

    Celiac.com 03/31/2016 - Kellogg has announced that gluten-free versions of its Corn Flakes and Special K cereals will mark its gluten-free debut into the Australian cereal market.

    Photo: Wiki Media Commons--David of Earth (NY)Kellogg calls the products a response to growing demand for gluten-free products from consumers with celiac disease and gluten intolerance. "We continue to see a growing number of consumers, including coeliac disease sufferers, requesting gluten free alternatives to our popular cereals."

    In formulating their new products, Kellogg set out to combat a perception in the Australian cereal market that gluten-free cereals routinely failed to "deliver a great taste experience that's consistent with products containing gluten," said Janine Brooker, portfolio marketing manager for Kellogg Australia.

    Kellogg "…wanted to make sure that our gluten-free Corn Flakes and Special K taste just as good as the original classics," Brooker added.

    Kellogg's Corn Flakes Gluten Free and Special K Gluten Free are available in 330g boxes at supermarkets across Australia.

    And yet, despite marketing a gluten-free Special K in the US a couple of years ago, it's doubtful you'd find a box of it nowadays. At least not where I live.

    Thank God they've finally made a gluten-free version of corn flakes. The rest of them out there are pretty bad. Hope it makes it to the US soon so I can try them! I wonder when they might be available on line.

    Cheerios Sales Rise After Switch To Gluten-Free
    Celiac.com 01/21/2016 - With sales of non-gluten-free cereals enduring a slow, consistent downward slide in just about every category, gluten-free cereals have been one of the few bright spots for cereal manufacturers.
    In an effort to combat those falling cereal sales across its existing product line, manufacturer General Mills released five gluten-free Cheerios products.
    Initial results suggest that their plan is working, at least somewhat. According to General Mills, sales of non-discounted, full-price gluten-free varieties of Cheerios grew 3% to 4% last quarter, offering the fist improvement after multiple quarters of declining sales.

    After some minor good news that their new gluten-free versions of Cheerios breakfast cereal was driving a small increase in an otherwise falling cereal market, the company has found itself on the receiving end of several lawsuits.

    General Mills Sued Again Over Recalled 'Gluten-Free' Cheerios

      @BluegrassCeliac, I'm agreeing. It's a good thing taking magnesium. And B vitamins. Magnesium and Thiamine work together. If you supplement the B vitamins which include Thiamine, but don't have sufficient magnesium, Thiamine won't work well. If you take Magnesium, but not Thiamine, magnesium won't work as well by itself. Hydrochlorothiazide...

      Hi, Not saying Thiamine (B1) couldn't be an issue as well, but Mg was definitely the cause of my problems. It's the only thing that worked. I supplemented with B vitamins, but that didn't change anything, in fact they made me sick.
