I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease this past month (December 2008) and on top of this diagnosis, I suffer from Glomerulosclerosis, a form of Kidney Disease; I was diagnosed with Glomerulosclerosis in September of 2007 after a painful biopsy. For the past year I have been on a diet that allows me only one serving of dairy, six servings of meat (protine), five severing of fruit/vegetables and seven servings of grain, whole grain. Finally I don’t messure my food every day and don’t have to write down everything that I eat, until now. Now I have Celiac Disease and am on a Gluetn-Free diet. I am learning everything from reading the labels to trying foods that I did not even think I could enjoy. Then there is my kidneys function that I have to watch with my Celiac Disease, now my greatest fear is the complecation of the Celiac Disease and my kidneys. I am a 36 years old woman, I have no symptoms of either of my disease except for blood work. My doctor found my Celiac Disease after I was taken to the ER due to stomach pains, that I have not had since the ER visit, at the hospital they did not find anything wrong with me. Then my doctor began the tests and I was diagnosed with IBS and then I got a call from my nurse telling me that I suffer from Celiac Disease, only cause the lab work came back over 2.7 when it should be .03. My greatest fear of having Celiac Disease is that my husband is on a high fiber diet, due to a heart attach last December and I was on a high fiber diet with him, now we are going to be creative cause I cannot eat the breads, pastas, and pastries that I love and I did not have to give up with my renial diet. Now I am studing labels and trying foods that I would never eat. I am pleased to say that I have begun my new lifestyle and have found a few items I like and I will eat. I am fortunate, cause I have husband that is eager to work with me and assist me in embracing my new lifestyle. I try not to say diet, I want to say lifestyle, cause this is not going to be a fad, this is my life, I cannot afford to loose any my immune system due to my kidney disease, however I will maintain my health and do what I need to stay healthy as long as I can. was diagnosed with Celiac Disease this past month (December 2008) and on top of this diagnosis, I also suffer from Glomerulosclerosis, a form of Kidney Disease; I was diagnosed with Glomerulosclerosis in September of 2007.
