Well...let's see...I guess I was a celiac from birth and my mother kept me gluten free for the first 10 years. She is bi-polar and in dealing with her own issues forgot about the celiac disease. Being a kid...I was just happy to have normal food like everyone else. So, for the past 20 years I was sick almost all the time...and went through many painful and horrible medical tests to figure out what was wrong. Of course...everything but celiac was diagnosed. At one point they told me it was most likely lymph cancer and put me through crazy treatments. FINALLY....I made a call to the family of my old pediatrician to see if there was anything that was left out or I didn't know of...and sure enough CELIAC! Felt wonderful to know I was going to live...but I was so sick that I was not digesting foods properly and I know it is going to be a long road back to good health. Dealing with eating out, labels, and of course the temptations!!!! Oh the temptations. I hope that in writing here I can meet others like me and hopefully help someone.
