Three years ago I got diagnosed via blood work and endoscopic biopsy with celiac sprue.  I was elated that I finally had a reason for my crazy stomach aches that have plagued me my entire life!!  I am 51 now, and ever since I can remember, maybe since my early teens, I would wind up feeling sick!  The gastroenterologist at the time diagnosed it as "nervous stomach" and prescribed Tagamet.  So off and on for the last 35++ years, I have been on countless medications for stomach issues.

Finally, after a "bout" of illness that did not seem to go away, I went in for further testing, which revealed atrophy in my small intestine.
I, of course was not thrilled, but was finally relieved that I knew what "this" was!!!!  Years and years of confusion, and being treated for "acid reflux"........plus all that $$$$$ for proton pump inhibitors.  I really feel that physicians need to be more pro-active in getting to the "root-cause" of illness, not just treating the symptoms.

So, it has been quite a battle for the last three years, up and down, trying to figure out what I can and cannot eat, and where I can and cannot eat!

My mother was since tested, and she also has celiac sprue.  We now think my grandmother had it too, with constant unexplainable bouts of nausea and diarrhea.

I also have issues with lactose, and some dairy products.

To further complicate things, when they performed the endoscope, they also found a small hiatel hernia.

I am currently residing in Bonita Springs, Florida, and own a design firm with my husband.  He has been fabulous with all of this, and is very  supportive.

I am constantly learning about new products, and welcome any and all suggestions!
