As gluten-free as possible for more than 20 years, Mary has now surpassed the life span of several relatives who died of digestive cancers. As a celiac volunteer, Mary troubleshoots with newly diagnosed celiac and encourages others with multiple food sensitivities. Mary gave up lactose before gluten and has since given up all dairy and canola oil. About ten years ago, she "lost her soy batteries," so enjoying gluten-free pretzels are as close to cheating as it gets for her.
