Christine Doherty, N.D. is a graduate of Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. In 2000 Dr. Doherty was appointed by the governor of New Hampshire to the Osteoporosis Advisory Council, where she served until 2003.She was vice president of the New Hampshire Association of Naturopathic Doctors for 4 years. She is the medical advisor for the Southern New Hampshire Gluten Intolerance Association and also to the national magazine “Living Without” a resource for people with food allergies, intolerance and Celiac Disease. She co-owns Balance Point Natural Medicine in Milford, NH where she has worked with thousands of patients from all over the country and internationally from Denmark, Bermuda, Japan, England and Canada, 70% of whom have gluten intolerance. Dr. Doherty almost died from the complications of undiagnosed atypical Celiac Disease and is now a passionate advocate for proper diagnosis and treatment of this devastating disease. She speaks on gluten related topics at lay and medical conferences nationally including the Gluten Intolerance Group, the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Teton Wellness Festival with Dean Ornish, M.D. and the upcoming Integrative Medicine Symposium in NY in Jan 2008. She has published articles in Living Without magazine and the peer reviewed journal Naturopathic Doctor News and Reviews, the New Hampshire Mirror, the Broadcaster and the Telegraph. She is working on a book on the naturopathic approach to gluten based conditions and is developing a line of supplements specific to the needs of those with gluten intolerance issues.
