I don't like the implication that it could be used as a fad diet. I am a diagnosed celiac and this diet in no way would be the type of diet I would use as a fad diet. It is a very difficult diet to follow.

My six year old brother has celiac disease and I've done three separate research papers on it, learning so much more each paper. The only thing that I would have changed about the article is when mentioning repercussions such as cancer and infertility, mention other seriously severe side effects, such as schizophrenia and even death if the diet is not strictly adhered to. While it is a good thing that people are aware of the restrictions and severity of celiac disease, I feel it is just as important that they be aware of all the important side affects of not adhering to the diet.

We have a new restaurant in our tiny town that is totally gluten-free. I am happy that we have this option and I hope that it is a forever thing. We do have an option for teaching others. Thank you for a wonderful article.
