My children AND I have all been diagnosed with gluten intolerance (we didn't go for the biopsy), and have been eating gluten free for 3 years now. My family has had a very high incidence of digestive system cancers and pre-cancerous conditions, but nobody will get tested because they don't have the same symptoms that my son (the first diagnosed) exhibited. They don't believe me when I tell them that I don't have those symptoms either, but feel so much better when I don't eat gluten! I think they are just afraid they might have to change the way they eat. Anyway, thanks for a great article.

A positive way to look at celiac disease. I am celiac and often find that people have a lot of misconceptions about our way of life. This explains in lay man terms some of the issues and has put a positive spin on this disease.

If the people that eat wheat are dying form secondary causes associated with wheat then the culture that cultivated it would have died off or else by the many associated diseases they would have become a weaker people vulnerable to their enemies and predators. I think this article, although providing an important perspective, over vilifies wheat for the general population.
