Newly Self Diagnosed

I have come to the conclusion that I am Gluten Intolerant.

Celiac.com Sponsor (A13):
I am 34 (as of yesterday) and the big wakeup call has been joint pain and hand pain, my hands ache, fingers hurt in the morning? Is this right, does anyone else have this? I feel like I am in my 90's some mornings. I have IBS all that good stuff but the more I looked into Gluten the more I think that is what it is. I have been doing the gluten free thing for a little over a week now and I was feeling a little better as far as stomach issues go, my stomach usually looks like I am 8 months pregnant and it has gone down with gluten free. ( as much as it can LOL)

So last night I went to Golden Spoon had plain vanilla and plain chocolate with chocolate sprinkles and I was up all night with burning in my stomach which is now turning into gas and still burning? Could it be the chocolate sprinkles? I went to their website and it said that the yogurt I had is gluten free but I can't find any info on the sprinkles? :(

Anyone have any suggestions, ideas?

Thank you!

The problem with us "Self Diagnosed" people is that we don't know what is happening to our bodies. I did a lot of research on Celiac's before I came to the conclusion that I had this (or just intolerant....the cure is the same either way). You might be getting a little lactose intolerant. The next time you eat ice cream or drink a glass of milk, try one of those over the counter pills just to be on the safe side.
My case was that I was lactose intolerant from the beginning, and after going gluten free, it went away. You wouldn't believe the gallons of milk I devoured after about 3 weeks of being gluten free. I also couldn't get enough cottage cheese!
I have another issue with this "diet" that I'm on though, was wondering if anyone has experienced this...
I am what doctors call "morbid obese". I haven't lost much in the way of pounds yet, but I am expecting it. I've lost inches...lots of inches. I'm down 1 pants size, 1 shirt size (and counting) 1 bra size and 2 shoe sizes...I didn't even know you could loose shoe sizes like this, and this has happened in the past month. The tops of my feet hurt like nobody's business and my hands are about the same. I can feel it in my bones, and I haven't felt them in almost 20 years. Any suggestions from the "gluten free" community?

Sorry to hear about all of your troubles Kat686. I have experienced the joint pain but reading all of your symptoms combined, I would seriously consider seeing your general physician or seeing a GI asap if I were you. I went through a bout of refractory sprue about a year ago and the first thing the GI did was put me on a 2 week dairy free diet. Sometimes when your body is having such a difficult time, celiacs become lactose intolerant but not necessarily permanently. I was on a strict diet basically the same as an IBS diet for those two weeks along with the celiac diet. No dairy, no fresh fruit or veggies. Not fun but I did start to feel better and I was able to gradually start reintroducing dairy back into my diet. Now I can eat dairy but in moderation, if I go eat a 1/2 a block of cheese I'm more then likely going to feel like crap. Might be something for you to try if you're trying to get better. My joint pain is more recent. I was referred to a rheumatologist back in December but I again got too sick to go. Had to do 10 weeks of steroids. After being off the steroids for a week the joint pain is returning. Your doc could possibly give you an anti-inflammatory for the pain but will prob also try to refer you to a specialist. I hope this helps. I am way rambling so I'm going to go! lol
