The Bellingham Gluten Intolerance Group will be hosting its 8th Annual Community Awareness Event on November 6th and 7th, 2009 at St. Luke's Health Education Center, 3333 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham, WA. This event is FREE and open to the public. From 9am - 4:30pm on Friday the 6th, community health practioners will be presenting on a variety of topics related to living a healthy, gluten-free life. On Saturday the 7th, the event runs from 10am - 3:30pm with samples from gluten-free vendors and restaurants, an afternoon panel discussion, a keynote speech by Dr. Joan Stevenson at 11am. "Did Cavemen Eat Wheat - The Evolution of the Human Diet" will be the topic. Harrisburg GIG presents Dr. Stephen Wangen Saturday, November 7, at 1:00 pm

Founder of the IBS Treatment Center in Seattle, WA, and Center for Food Allergies, Dr. Wangen's extensive clinical research into the relationship between food allergies and health has led to groundbreaking work on many conditions. He continues to investigate these issues as the Research Director of the Innate Health Foundation, a nonprodit agency dedicated to the advancement of health and health care.
Dr. Wangen will present his lecture based on his new book, Healthier Without Wheat: A New Understanding of Wheat Allergies, Celiac Disease and Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerance.
In addition, Dr. Wangen serves on the GIG of North America Board of Trustees.
