Has your doctor tested for DH? A positive is an automatic celiac diagnosis. By the way, they test the skin adjacent to the sores not the sores themselves.
I would tell the doctor you also want to find out if your rash is DH (remember to tell him that the skin adjacent to the lesions are biopsied, not the lesion themselves). This might need to be done by a GI or an skin doctor, I'm not sure. If your rash is not DH, I would ask for the full celiac bloo panel.
Welcome, @Dylan C.
I am sorry you are not feeling well. There are over 300 symptoms of celiac, but with what you describe I'm surprised you have not been tested for that or chrons, especially as a child. When you go to the new doctor, be proactive and specifically tell them you want a referral to a GI and that you want to be tested for celiac and chrons.
Be sure to continue eating gluten until all testing is complete.
It is very overwhelming at first for sure. I had a positive blood test in November and I was in denial until the biopsy came back and it was positive too. As the months go by it has gotten easier but I do still feel sorry for myself sometimes. Whenever I start to feel sorry for myself I focus on the positives. There are so many wonderful gluten free foods and beverages that we can have. Your health is more important than eating gluten and there really are very good options out there that are gluten free. If you try something you don't like, don't give up and think that none of it will taste good, because there are lots of gluten free things that taste awesome.
Sorry Sugarcube I was in between the school run, dinner and husband arriving home so didn't read your reply properly. He said there were no signs of infection and that he thought it was either coeliac or an autoimmune disease. He didn't say anything about allergies. Thanks for the info you've given me I think it's very unlikely celiac...
Hello cycling lady, have you noticed my picture is showing up as you? Have no idea why but it's rather disconcerting to see my picture and your words 😉 Do you know how to fix it? You seem to have far more experience with this board than I do
Hi There, I don't know if there is a place for videos in the forum. I just watched "The Truth About Gluten" I think it is a good video. I would like to share it somewhere but don't know where it should go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the link if you have never watched it.
