We are trying to figure out if my 5 yr old has celiacs, any advice would be super helpful!
The indicators that he may be positive:
I have celiacs (and did not have any GI symptoms prior to Dx)
elevated liver enzymes
diarrhea and stomach pains when eating gluten at my house, Ex-H claims that he is symptom free at his
in the biopsy, the surgeon indicated that when he introduced water into the small intestine he saw some damage
He is only in the 5th percentile for growth
Indicators that he may be negative:
the biopsy results don't show any damage
Any advice on additional bloodwork that I can have the Dr. run? I don't want to simply say "oh the biopsy came back negative, so he's in the clear". My ex-husband is saying that I'm on a witch hunt (grrr).
My goal isn't to continue poking and prodding my poor little man, but the ex refuses to just go gluten free voluntarily. It's very frustrating!
I am wondering if it could be ovarian cancer? I have all the symptoms and pains, cramps and foul smelling poop and loose stool at the wrong times. My pains are just above my csection line on both sides of my Lowe abdomen. It has been several weeks now. I am getting a colonoscopy in two weeks. I had the first one 5 years ago. I haven't changed my diet. I just don't know what to do.
I am newly disagnosed by my primary care doctor and b/c of the holidays, end of the year, etc, i couldn't get into a GI doctor until next year. So, for now,Im gluten free and winging things as best as I can. I have been gluten free for a few weeks. My stomach issues are slowly resolving. But, I have this ache....my arms, legs, neck, just general muscle aches that don't seem to go away. Its almost getting worse. I keep getting up and stretching, and my muscles feel like I worked out really hard yesterday.
I thought this would get better once I went gluten free, but its not getting better.
Is this something that is or can be connected to celiac, or is this something totally separate?
I am LDS and my 12 year Oldson has Celiac and I am very intolerant. We also have three other families with Celiac or severe gluten or egg allergies. Our bishop has changed all the bread for sacrament with gluten and egg free bread. I've shown the leadership how to clean the trays and no one has had an issue. Your bishop needs to be educated. After all, what would Jesus do? There is no church protocol that states what the bread has to be. You could use rice checks or cinnamon roles, just saying. Another idea is to have a small bag of already broken gluten free bread that is placed on the tray and blessed. Then have the Decon know where you are sitting so he can bring it to you. I saw this down in SLC where General Authorities where present.
Hi all! I started another post Thursday in this section but don't see it anywhere. Hope it's ok for me to start a new one!
I'm new to the gluten-free diet. Today is day 9. I haven't officially been diagnosed with Celiac just gluten sensitivity via saliva. I've had some issues that came out of nowhere almost 5 months ago. Now day 9 and things aren't much different. In fact I feel a little worse (more exhaustion, more off balance spells). I'm trying really hard to convince myself this gluten-free lifestyle is worth it but since I'm seeing no improvement it's SO hard! I know 9 days is nothing but 2 gluten-free friends said they felt better overnight. Maybe my expectations are off :/
