I have been losing weight since just after Christmas 2008.

I am 5'11" tall and was overweight at 256lbs (18st 2 lbs) I openly admit that I was too heavy for my height etc.

However, 6 weeks later, I was 224lbs (16st). Now, 4 months later, I am seriously struggling to maintain my weight. This morning, I weighed 206.8 (14st 8lbs). I weighed myself 2 days ago and was 209.8 (15st).

I am eating as regularly as I can, having decent meals and managing to keep them down.

Does anyone have any idea as to why I am still losing some much weight?

Any advice will, of course be greatly appreciated. smile.gif

I assume you're on the gluten-free diet... when did you start?

In February 2008 (just before my son was born) I weighed 230 pounds. 50 of those pounds were from the pregnancy. After my son was born I started having a lot of abdominal pain... at first I thought it was afterpains dry.gif Without ANY dieting (I was living off sandwiches, cereal, pizza, noodles... tons of gluteny foods) I dropped all the pregnancy weight in six months. Then I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and started the gluten-free diet. To my amazement, the abdominal pain went away and the weight just kept falling off... 170 pounds, then 160 (December 2008), then 150 by my son's first birthday. My lowest was 147 pounds. I haven't been this weight since I was FOURTEEN. I'm down to a size 10.

The good news is that my weight has finally stabilized around 150 pounds. At 6'0" that gives me a BMI of 20.3 (http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/). I eat lots of protein and healthy fats... eggs, coconut oil, olive oil, fish, nuts, seeds... I feel best when I eat several small meals throughout the day. There are a few things that can cause sudden weight loss... diabetes, Addison's disease, hyperthyroidism... but if you're eating a healthy diet and you've had a recent physical, then IMO you don't need to worry about it. You'll eventually figure out what your new "normal" weight is.

I have been on a gluten-free diet for just over 2 weeks now. The sickness has definitely improved barring one event earlier this week and I was hoping to see my weight start to stablise as a result. Maybe I am impatient to see results!

I just used the link you provided and apparently I am still overweight. According to that I need to lose another 30 lbs which will take me down to 175 lbs (12 stone 7 lbs). The general consensus is that I physically don't have 30 lbs on me TO lose without looking very sick.
