  1. has a recipe for corn dogs in their online cooking class section. It has pictures to show you step by step how to do it. I haven't tried it yet, but printed it off and will do it soon. It even gives instructions for freezing them and reheating in oven.
  2. I can't help you trouble shoot the bread making as I have the same problems. I was wondering if your son has tried Kinnicknick Frozen Sandwich bread. I have a 3 yr old also and he really likes that. I toast it until it is the right texture. I don't know if that helps, but I thought I'd throw that out there.
  3. I was wondering where I can find the following pans: doughnut pan hamburger bun pan french bread pan? I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and had no luck. I have also not seen these pans at superstores. I have not tried department stores. I have looked on a few websites, but can't find them all in one place. So website or store recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks, Nikki
  4. I know I can think of seven, but am short on time so I'm going to post the one that keeps me sane: ****Whatever has gluten in it really isn't that good for you anyway.**** I'm trying to lose a little weight. Everytime I face a tempting food that has gluten, I think "well, that isn't healthy anyway. Good thing I can't have it." Nikki
  5. I know this has been asked before, but I can't find it. How long do the effects of being "glutened" last? I am not very sensative to cross-contamination. But I know for sure that I got gluten on Tuesday. Days later, I still feel nauseus and gassy and have no appetite. However, my little one vomited the other day and had no appetite for a few days, so it could definitely be some kind of stomach virus. (His results were negative for celiac disease). I just was wondering how long the effects last. Just want to compare my notes. Thanks, Nikki
  6. I was diagnosed in Nov. 06. I had symptoms after I had my second child in April of 06. I don't think I had symptoms before so I thought this was triggered by pregnancy. But I've been thinking about this a while now. I'm wondering, is it possible that the symptoms were triggered by pregnancy, but that I've always had it? I was severly anemic at 3 years old. And I've never really liked pizza, bread, pasta or cookies. I always said they were too "heavy" for me, but I don't remember ever getting sick. I had a bone scan done in Dec. and sure enough, I have Osteopenia. So is that another signal that I may have had this much longer? Just curious. Thanks, Nikki
  7. Thanks to the last few posts for your supportive ideas. I was pretty turned off to this forum by an earlier post when I was criticized for giving my baby snack foods and the suggestions that that was the reason he was having problems. When you are so scared and seeing your baby consistently lose weight and not thriving, the last thing you need is to be criticized for what you were doing. Especially when you come to a forum for support. Juliet, I have not seen puffed rice or puffed corn that does not contain malt. Can you tell me the brand that you use? I've noticed that we are not very sensitive to cross contamination, so I'm not too worried about that. Thanks again, Nikki
  8. Can you make this mix in a bread machine? I called the company and they said they don't reccommend it, but that some people have done it by adding water to the mix. She said it is too thick for a machine but water will make it possible. I was wondering if anyone has done this and if so, how much water to add. Thanks, Nikki
  9. Hi, just wondering if anyone has tried Glutino's Honey Nut Cereal. Is it any good? Or is it like those awful PerkyO's? I don't want to waste money like I did on that cereal. Thanks.
  10. We just bought the frozen Kinnikinnick white bread and my son liked it. I was wondering if you are talking about the frozen one or the bread mix. I haven't tried the bread mix yet and was wondering what people thought of the mix? Nikki
  11. This thread is perfect for me too as I just made yellow cupcakes for this weekend for a birthday party we were going to. I used Annalise Robert's recipe. It tasted good, but was very crumbly. We couldn't even put frosting on them. Any ideas why this could be? Nikki
  12. I made this bread this week in my Zoji x20. It was just as great as people say. We love the texture. But it either didn't rise as much as I thought it should or it fell. I set the rise at 55 minutes as someone suggested and I used milk. Should I increase the rise time? Any suggestions?
  13. Hi, I'm going to try to make a long story short. I was diagnosed in Nov. and my 2 1/2 year old son was diagnosed in early January. My second baby was a chubby little boy until I had my biopsy in Oct. and was away from him for 4 days. My breastmilk supply went down and then he's had ear infections and other things occur. He started losing weight. In Dec. I became really worried about his weight. I was still nursing almost exclusively at that point. He would only nurse for a few minutes 3 times a day. Doctors thought it was because of repeat ear infections. Then a few weeks ago, I took him to a new doctor. I told her I would do whatever I needed to to help him gain weight including supplement more with formula. She advised me to offer him the bottle as much as possible. Last week I would nurse in the morning and offer the bottle throughout the day. He would barely drink any. Some days he would nurse the one time and drink only 2 oz. formula for the whole day. I finally stopped giving him any Gerber baby snacks, like the wagon wheels, veggie puffs, teething biscuits, etc. Three days later, he started drinking like crazy. Taking 20 oz. a day! I was so happy. He still nurses in the morning and then I give him formula the rest of the day. He has always been a happy baby, but he's even happier now. Sounds like Celiac to me. Could be a coincidence, but given the family history I doubt it. But I am wondering what kind of baby snacks can I give him? I got Perky O's thinking they'd be like Cherrios, but they are very hard and don't dissolve like the Cherrios. What can I give him? Are there recipes for teething biscuits or something like that? Or a gluten-free product I can get for him? Thanks all, Nikki Another question: he never had diareah, in fact was always constipated with hard stools, until I took away all gluten. Then he had diareah for a few days. It's better now. But does anyone know why?
  14. I just got my Zojorushi x20. I have never used a breadmaker. I would like to try Lorka's recipe. Should I give it a shot as my first bread machine experience or should I start wit a mix? Any suggestions? Thanks
  15. is there a difference between these? Can I use milled flaxseed in Lorka's bread recipe? Thanks
