I have been gluten free for many years now, and although it took awhile to clear the mind, I now only get Brain Fog when I get cross contaminated.

You may think you are completely clear of gluten, but tiny bits can sneak up on you. For instance, I only meet a friend for coffee where we can pour our own coffee. That way I can check the inside of the cup before I pour. I have found bread residue in the bottom of coffee cups from the dishwasher. This would certainly trigger a Brain Fog session had I used them.
It's tiny problems like this that may be causing Fog without us realizing it.

Hmmmm, my hubby does that twice a day, I always just thought it was a man thing.
He's not the one with Celiac Disease.

Seriously, anything with sugar will give you down time, even without Celiac. But things like eggs with high protien should give you a boost instead. That is a puzzle. Maybe just your system telling you that it's time to nap.

I was in town on Wed. and couldn't find any Heinz soups Guess we don't have them around.

I also checked out the Imagine soups and couldn't find the words gluten free on them. I remember buying them a few years ago with gluten free written on them, but it's not there anymore.
The ingredients look fine though, so I bought a tomato to try it. Haven't tried it yet, maybe tomorrow.

I have been fortunate enough not to have it, however, there is a new vaccine out for shingles. If you had chicken pox when you were a kid, it might be wise to get one. I totally forgot to ask my doctor for one last time I was in. Hopefully I will remember next time

Thank you, I've booked marked it as well. Will have to look and see if my two main food groups are included.
      Chocolate and wine.
      Seriously, this looks very helpful!

I think we are going into town tomorrow so will have to have a look for that soup. With any luck we can get it here too. We used to get Imagine that said gluten free on the pack, but lately I haven't been able to find the gluten free label Will have to look again. I miss my tomato soup.

I can see it being important, I just thought after all this time it would be figured out.

How have you been? It's good to see there are still a couple of old favourites still here

If it is a British import, would it meet north american gluten free standards. Or have the Brits stopped using wheat starch? They used to claim that wheat starch was gluten free. Does anyone know if that has changed?

      Hi Courtney;
Welcome to the site Are you very active? I find that I have a lot more trouble loosing weight in the winter as I'm not a skier or anything like that. Summer time I'm into training dogs and golfing, gardening etc. so I'm much more active. And of course if I'm out playing with the dogs, I'm not in the house eating
Also ... gluten free baked stuff is much higher in callories than regular gluten stuff. A gluten free donut for instance is a whopping 1200 callories ... yup, it is, the equivilant of a whole days callories in one donut! ... And I didn't realize that when I bought them, and still have four more sitting in the freezer. Will pick my really, really active days to eat the rest of those and then won't buy anymore
Glad to have you, Gotta go and paint now

Hello All ... I'm still here I think I sometimes wonder.

It's crazy busy, so don't get on the computer much. I've got two seminars finished now, just two more to go.
They are great fun, but do require time, thinking (that's hard ) and lots of practice.

Tomorrow evening I will start doing dog obedience, agility and Rally O up here again for the season. That will be every Monday. Then on Tues. evenings I will go to Castlegar and do obedience and Rally O with the kennel club.

This Sat. (the 12th) we will all be in Trail to do their parade with all our club dogs ... balloons to give out to the children...and at leat two or three carts the dogs will be pulling Parades are always fun! We are going to see if Sheba will ride in a cart for awhile, with her buddy Norman, a yellow lab pulling the cart. Will be fun if she cooperates

I'm almost finished painting the ornaments ... just have three left to do, I spend about 4 1/2 hours every morning on those ... so it will be good to get them done.

We still haven't had time to get out golfing. We'd better get the clubs out soon though as we are playing in a turnament on the 27th. I don't think our scores are going to be too great

I'm still down only the six pounds ... haven't lost or gained any lately Oh well, maybe after walking the whole parade route I'll get some more off.

      Yesterday was;
B- gluten-free cereal and skim milk
L- gluten-free breakfast bar and cinnamon roll (we were sitting in a school room in Castlegar)
D- about a 5oz New York steak with baked potato, garden salad and mixed veggies ( a bunch of us went out for dinner after the seminar
S- popcorn and a glass of white wine

      Today so far...
B- gluten-free cereal and skim milk
L- a large orange, slice of low fat cheese, about 10 M&Ms
S- going to have some popcorn with a cup of tea

Hope you are all having a super weekend!

No, there is no specific test for the illium. The doctor knows where it is and can finger press to judge the tenderness of it.
But more important, he can rule out the more dangerous things like ulcers and gallbladder. If these things are ruled out you can be pretty sure it is the illium causing the problems. My doctor calls it the Celiac pain. because almost all the Celiacs he sees ... and he tends to see more in this area because he is familiar with the desease and is Celiac himself, has this illium problem.
So, seeing your doctor is a precaution ... there is no 'cure' for the illium except being 100% gluten free at all times without ever getting contaminated ... which of course is impossible in this gluten filled world.

That sounds like the illium. Food is supposed to go through the illium as a broken down almost liquid. As we sometimes don't digest our food completely, larger chunks go through and sit in the illium causing a painful spot. Eventually it will clear itself, but if you are getting contaminated it will happen again. But I suggest you go and see your doctor and check it out
