  1. Carnival Cruise Gluten Free Experience

    Very impressive article. Great info, and well written!   Two comments I have:   Gluten-free pizza , in my experience, and IMO, always sucks, unless it's cooked in an industrial oven such as Domino's. So that's a tough one, and Carnival is in the same boat as the rest of us there (oops).   Sandwiches, that's an easy fix. Simply utilize individual packets of mustard/mayo.   2. If I may, Id like to comment on this 9½ year old (until yesterday) thread. I'm not a food chemist, or expert, so this is just my opinion.   I don't use artificial sweeteners. Not because of any health concerns, but because they don't taste good to me. I just can't abide 'em. lol. However, I'm very fond of Truvia. This is not an artificial sweetener, it's an "alternative" sweetener. Yes, it's a processed product, but to one extent or another, so is sugar, agave nectar, molasses, etc. I can't stand any other stevia product, too bitter. But Truvia solves that problem. They extract only the palatable part of the steeped stevia leaves. Then blend with some sugar alcohols (which are also "natural"). The result being a processed, but not artificial sweetener.    Walmart sells a similar, generic product with the same taste, as far as I can tell. But, I don't like it because it's a very fine powder. When  you pour it, you get that floating powder taste in your nose. Truvia has crystals about the same size as sugar.     best regards, larry mac

  6. Yes, and forgot to mention, I was sick for two years before I found a doctor that knew about Celiac Disease. Lost a lot of weight from gastro problems. Of course it's more known now days.     best regards, larry mac

  8. Best Burgers In America

    Just had a dream last night where I ordered a hamburger, without bun, at a fast food restaurant, and saw the food preparer make it with a bun, and then take the bun off. I said "hey, that will make me very sick". Next thing I know, I'm eating a hamburger with the bun! And really tearing into it! lol. Yeah, I know, my dreams are crazy, and make no sense.   Hope you enjoy your gluten-free burger. The last gluten-free burger I had was at Red Robin. It was their signature cheeseburger, with bacon, and a fried egg. It was the messiest thing I've ever had. Every bite was followed by face and hand wiping, luckily they have large, heavy duty napkins. lol. An absolutely insane burger! My experience was most likely enhanced by one of their "adult" milkshakes! lol   best regards, larry mac

    I've had flue shots every year for as long as I can remember. Before and after being diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Have never had a reaction, of any kind (well except perhaps a slightly sore arm, lol).    best regards, larry mac

  11. Vomiting With Celiac?

    Hi Aimee, I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you. However, I'd like to add my support to keep searching for answers. You're far too young to be having these serious health problems. I too suffered for over two years before I finally found a doctor that had the expertise to help me. I didn't have the same problems as you do, and I feel for you. But I lost over 40 pounds and had constant gastrointestinal distress before I was successfully diagnosed. I'm sure there is a light at the end of the long road to wellness. You will get there!   I will be praying for you, and hope you find a Doctor that can help you finally find some relief, and happiness.   best regards, larry mac

  14. Tried the Cheeseburger Macaroni last night. It needed doctoring up IMO, just like the mac & cheese. I added some cheddar, some Velveeta, lots more milk, some seasonings, some sour cream, and a little gluten-free Kikkomans soy sauce. It was pretty good, even reheated today (with more milk). Oh, and it required twice the cooking time as stated in the instructions.   Probably could have just made it from scratch. lol.   bests regards, larry mac
