    1. hadafish added a post in a topic "sick" All The Time?

I too have had one upper respiratory infection after another since Christmas. This is the sickest I have been since going gluten-free about three years ago. I got the first bout on Dec 10 and hubby got it a few days later. He got over it in three weeks but mine hung around for five weeks. Then he got sick again one week later and a week after that I got it again. After being sick that time for six more weeks I had just started to feel better for a few days and pow I got the third bout. This one is the most fierce and started as bronchitis. I saw my doc who put me on antibiotics which did not seem to make any difference except now I have to try to get my intestines back in shape since I wiped out all the normal flora. This morning when I woke up I had a giant pain in an arthritic knee as if the "bug" decided to got there to raise more cane!. I am really tired of this and had started to be fearful about what is going on but at least I can see I am not the only one. Well, I will sure appreciate feeling better when I do. And I will sure enjoy the coming Spring. Jan

    2. hadafish added a post in a topic Does It Ever Feel Like Too Much?

Thanks for all your stories. This morning it was just what I needed - to know that I am not alone. I have gluten sensitivity, casein sensitivity, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, asthma, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease and numerous other spine problems, arthritis and almost constant joint pain knee, hip and both feet in spite of beinfg gluten free for over a year now. However, it is important to add that I have had hardly any migraines, very little heartburn (except for mistakes) and less anxiety, which is not to say that it is not still an issure for me. I thnk I am becoming more eccentric since my diagnosis, or just getting a bit wierd. The only food I can eat is the food I prepare. I am tired a lot of the time and sometimes I am very sad about the loss of my health and mostly of my independence - not working currently. Just taking care of myself and the household is about what I can handle. I do, however, feel very thankful for many things and especially that I know I have gs/cs. The help from this and other similiar boards is huge. I find that I often show the "good sport" syndrome. A friend will ask how I am doing and even though I have a lot of pain I say "fine". Later, I wonder why my friend does not understand the depth of my difficulties and then I remember I have not revealed the truth. I think it is hard to determine which is better, to say I am fine on the hope that it will become real or I am in pain so that friends will understand. Mostly, I don't want people to know the extent of my problems and that is what is so great about being able to come here. Thanks to all. Jan

    3. hadafish added a post in a topic Alcohol

In his book, Dangerous Grains, Ron Hoggan addresses Alcholism and Gluten on
page 150. One of the things he says is that intestinal permeability is made
worse by alcohol. Perhaps you are experiening these new symptoms from that.
Just some food for thought Jan

Hello, I have been getting these on my left arm near the inner elbow for about five years. I have been gluten free (except for accidents) for just one year. Nonetheless, these spots appear. Usually they are about the size of the diameter of a pencil earaser and just like you last for about two days. NO ONE has been able to figure this out. I have seen the dermotologist on several occasions for this and he says "hmmmmm, maybe some sort of abrasion". I think that they do appear more after some vigorous house cleaning. Oh, I also get them after a blood draw - maybe five or six near the needle site. I am going to keep asking questions about these and will let you know if I find out anything. Jan

Hi Judy, thank you. I do push that button all the way over and still I only see only
one third of the original message and two thirds of the replies. I don't have this
problem on any other site. I am on an Imac. My husband says I have to get a PC
for it to work and true enough if I use his computer it is fine. His is for
business and I rarely get to be on. However, I am pleased that I can post and
that you can see my reply. Thanks again. This is better than not being here at all! I
      love the site. Jan, Caifornia.

I still cannot get all of the messages, I only see about 2/3rds of each message and
cannot see the introductory message of the topics. I am so sad because I loved this
board and wth wonderful people on it. I will keep trying. hadafish, formerly known
