They say that a large percentage of what you put on your body is absorbed into your body. They are finding all kinds of synthetic ingredients from cosmetics in our bodies now as well as in tumors... it's pretty crazy. So if you are only concerned about absorbing gluten into your system you might want to look at what else you are also absorbing with standard cosmetics... that's exactly why Channel responded with such a generic "legal" response as to the 'safety' of their products. I HIGHLY recommend you all check out The Breast Cancer Fund's website They started a "Compact for Safe Cosmetics" that is trying to promote safe cosmetics in a system that is virtually unregulated. Also, another must is the EWG's Skin Deep website which ranks all the cosmetics brands on the market in terms of safety: You can type in Nars and Chanel and see how they stack up (you will find they are not so healthy even though some of their products are Gluten Free). I personally use Afterglow Cosmetics which is an all natural mineral cosmetic brand - it's ranked as one of the safest on the EWG website and also doesn't contain all the junk found in many other cosmetics (my skin has improved too and I get tons of compliments on the finish!) Not only is Afterglow gluten free it also has no talc, no bismuth oxychloride, no parabens, no animal testing, no lake or FD&C dyes and no petrochemicals. Check out those two sites! They are really eye-openers!
