campcour added a topic in Gluten-Free RestaurantsEdmontonI was just in Edmonton this past weekend and I was TOTALLY impressed with all of the places where you can get gluten free foods! We ate at OPM... AMAZING!! Joey's and Milestones and there were literally about 5 more places that my friend pointed out to me as we were driving by that had gluten free menus. She had looked them up before I came and I was totally impressed. I liked that OPM and Joey's had gluten free menus done up that had lots of choices and looked nice and professional. I wish I could move those places into Regina!!
Just wanted to share for those who are in Edmonton or going there for a trip

campcour added a topic in Gluten-Free RestaurantsRegina RestuarantsJust wanted to let fellow Regina people know that there is a new restuarant on the East side called "The Black Pepper" and it is a pasta place...very good! Ate there a week ago and had a really good meat sauce.
Also, I talked to the manager at "The Freehouse" and he can prepare gluten free dishes and is very well informed about celiac disease as his aunt has it. I have not eaten there yet but am excited to!
Does anyone know of any asian type food resturants in Regina that have gluten free food? I really miss asian food. I have friends going to Teppanyaki this weekend. I looked up the menu and it looks questionable. Does anyone know anything about it?

campcour added a topic in Gluten-Free International Room (Outside USA)Vancouver - Ubchello,
I have been checking all of the posts about gluten free restaurants in vancouver and am very excited to check out "serenity natural foods deli/cafe." I am moving to Vancouver to go to the University of British Columbia for 2 months this summer and am wondering if anyone knows of a health food store near this area or in Vancouver. Somewhere to get pasta, flour, etc? I am a little nervous about the move and not knowing where to find anything gluten free. I am hoping that there will be something on campus! That would be a nice change! Any comments would be great please!!

campcour added a topic in Gluten-Free International Room (Outside USA)Hershey's ChocolateI have read on here many times that all kinds of hershey's chocolate bars are safe, for example: eat more, oh henry, reese's peanut butter cups, and hte list goes on and on. But i wanted to contact hershey's to make sure and when i phoned she said she could mail me the list of gluten-free hershey products. So i was excited... until i got the list yesturday which lists "chipits - semi sweet baking chocolate, hershey chocolate syryp, hershy kisses chocolate, hershy milk choc. bar and milk choc. bar with almonds, and jolly rancher hard candy." This is great to have some things, but now I am wondering if all those other hershey products are not safe. I am wondering if anyone can shed any light on this from what they know or have researched. Thanks

campcour added a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & MedicationsFlavoured Teashi,
i have recently found that drinking tea really soothes my stomache. especially peppermint tea... for stomache aches and bloating, really helps. and i am starting to get a little bored with always drinking this flavour, so i was goign to drink some blueberry tea i found in the cupboard. but then i saw that there was flavouring in the tea packet. do you worry about flavour in tea? i cna't think of what could be in tea bags that would have gluten??

campcour added a topic in Gluten-Free Ingredients & Food Labeling IssuesGluten... Its In Everything!i am finding out more and more that having celiac disease really is a lot more than being careful with foods. it is starting to really get me down. i am starting to examine my hair products, lotions, etc and many have wheat listed on the bottles. then others don't bu ti have no clue what most of hte ingredients are, so i don't know if they are safe or not. i don't have the skin condition associated with celiac, but feel i shoudl just be careful and convert to all gluten free products in every aspect of my life. something that i was trying to find out about was clinique oil free mosturizer b/c it is the only one that i can use on my face that doesn't make me break out, and this is the email they sent back:
