  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. Hi Everyone! I was wondering if someone could tell me if stone ground corn flour was gluten free. I found some soft tortillas made of corn flour and thought they would be great for making a sandwich! I don't want to eat it until I know for sure tho. Thanks for your help, and have a great day!!! Susan
  3. I want to thank all of you so much for helping me. I didn't realize how emotional this disease and diet would be for me. I've been on the site for a couple hours reading. I felt an overwhelming releif when I read all the things that I actully can eat, it made me cry. Thank you Dana. Everyone is so nice here. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have this site to come to. Susan
  4. Hello. I was wondering if anyone had a simple list of food products that are gluten free? A list of foods that I can just go to a grocery store and buy. I have been gluten free for 2 weeks now but I still struggle with figuring out what is gluten free and what isn't. I'm to the point now that I am so hungry. I don't know what to eat so I'm not eating much of anything. If anyone knows of just some regular foods I could get that would be extreamly helpful. Thanks so much! Susan
  5. Hi Mariann: The two flavors of Breyers All Natural ice cream I have right now are Chocolate (of course!) and paech. The ingrediants in the chocolate are : milk, cream, sugar, cocoa, natural flavor-----the ingreadiants in the peach are :milk, peaches, sugar, cream, natural flavor. The ingrediants sounded ok to me but that "natural flavor" makes me wonder. I've just been doing so good on the gluten-free diet and I don't want to mess up. I can't believe it, I have been 2 days without any abdominal cramping and pain!! Praise the Lord! Susan
  6. Teeth Problems?

Mariann, Thank you so much for writting back. A lightbulb just went off in my head! All of my children have bad teeth. My 4 yr old has had 9 teeth pulled. The dentist always looked at me like I was a bad parent and not taking care of my childrens teeth. I was made to feel very bad, looked down on. But I always did take care of their teeth from the very first one they got, I was brushing! I never thought about having my kids tested for celiac, I guess because they haven't had any stomache problems. But now that you mentioned that about the teeth, I am definetly going to talk to my doctor. Thank you again. This site makes me feel like I have friends that really understand what I've been through. Susan
  7. Hello! I was wondering if anyone else with celiac had problems with their teeth. I am only 30 and a short few years ago I had beautiful teeth. But within a year or so my teeth rapidly started decaying, to the point the dentist couldn't keep up with them or fix them because they were too damaged. I asked 5 different dentist what was causing this to happen and the only answer I got was it looked to them to be from malnutrition. At the time I didn't know about celiac but now it makes sense. For years people accussed me of being anorexic because I am so thin, but I knew I wasn't anorexic, I just couldn't eat without being in pain. I was curious if anyone else had experianced problems with their teeth as a result of celiac. Thanks Susan
  8. Hi Marianne: Actully I have never heard of that brand. I live in New York (east coast!) so I am certainly going to look for it. Ice cream is my favorite food in the world! When I find it I will let you know. I found on a gluten-free web site that Breyers All Natural ice cream was gluten free but a nurse at the doctors told me it wasn't. So I have 2 half gallons in my freezer and I'm afraid to eat them because now I don't know if it has gluten or not. My goodness this diet is confusing and I've only been on it 9 days! I wish you all the best and may God bless you and your family. Susan
  9. Hi everyone! I'm new to this site but I've been doing a lot of reading the past few days. There's great info on here. I have had abdominal problems my entire life. The problems worsened the past 10 years. I am a 30 year old woman and the past two years of my life have been almost unbarrible with the constant pain I am in. I can't eat anything without doubling over in pain. It got to the point that I stopped eating because it hurt so bad. I went down to 80lbs. I am now back to 100lbs. My doctors has recently suggested that I have celiac because of something found in my bloodtests. For years I was told I had IBS and I knew it had to be more than just IBS. This problem and excrusiating pain has effected my entire life. It's held me back from working, from doing the important and special things with my kids, from going places, to my marriage falling apart because my husband was sick and tired of me being sick all the time and the doctors telling me there was nothing wrong with me. This disease has stopped me from living my life and I want my life back now! My question is, will a catscan confirm that I have celiac? I am having one done this month. I am schedualed for a colonoscopy and endoscopy in July because the doctor wants biopsies of my large and small intestines. I am scared to death to have those tests done. I've already postponed them once. How bad are those tests? I was also wondering, how long does it usally take to be symtom free after starting a gluten-free diet? I have been gluten-free about 9 days now and really haven't seen any results. Thank you all so much for listening to me. Any replies would be greatly appriciated. I don't feel so alone now. Susan
