  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. hey guys! its been forever : ) doing good though. quick question - i have been eating trader joes' frozen "chicken vindaloo" meal for lunch lately. it appears to be gluten free but doesn't say so on the packaging. just thought i would double check here. thanks!
  3. Meal/snack Ideas Please!

LARA BARS!!!!! they are amazing!! i love the cashew cookie, the pb cookie, the apple pie - they are only made with like 2 to 4 ingredients. i think the cashew cookie bar has CASHEWS, DATES! thats ALL!!!!!! i love them so much. i have also found some AMAZING baked good/bread items from almondglory foods - i am obsessed. its based in LA, but they ship all over. soy free, gluten free, low glycemic. not sure about the dairy. the bagels are unbelievable. as is the foccacia and since the base of everything is almond meal - it feels and IS more nutrient dense than a lot of that potato starch/tapioca flour stuff. enjoy!!!!!!
  4. so after being diagnosed with celiac disease and being told i had to eat gluten-free FOREVER, i thought my days of muffins or a toasted bagel with pb were OVER. (or at least ones that tasted GOOD!!!) but all that changed when i discoverd this brand - ALMOND GLORY! 818.683.4303 i heard about it thru my nutritionist. i emailed the company to order some goods - and actually talked to the creator! this fabulous woman/mom - gayle started this company when she and her son were diagnosed with celiac. she developed this UNBELIEVABLE line of baked goods - muffins - the banana choc chip are to die for scones foccacia - insanley good brownies - addictive pizza crust "make everything mix" and BAGELS - which are seriously the BEST BAGELS I HAVE EVER HAD - gluten free or not gluten free. not bready at all. just flavorFILLED and delish. all the food is almond meal based, soy free, and low glycemic. i am addicted. try it. it will seriously change your gluten free life.
  5. hi everyone - my huzzband and i went to a friend's house for a bbq on sunday. (its now wednesday.) our friend asked me if there was anything i couldn't eat besides gluten -- so i thought i was safe! we ended up having a delish flank steak (no hamburgers and dogs at this bbq!) well, i was helping our host cut the steak before we sat down and i asked what she used as a marinade... herbs, seasonings...SOY SAUCE!!!!!! : ( i didn't know what to do - (i know now that many ppl dont realized exactly what gluten is, so i need to be more CLEAR next time) and i didn't want to be rude. so i ate the steak. (i am not sure what got into me, i NEVER knowingly ingest gluten!! but it did...) and afterwards, i felt fine! or so i thought... on tuesday night, i started to feel pretty crappy - stomach ache, nausea and today -- its 100 times worse. a horrible stomach ache super nauseas exhausted foggy headed bathroom stuff ugh, it sucks! could this REALLY be from the soy sauce marinated steak i ate THREE DAYS AGO??!? i thought that if i ate gluten (esp after being glu-free for a year now!) that i would feel the effects right away. is it possible that i am just feeling the effectS? ???
  6. Soy Crispettes = Stomach Aches?

so, i have been munching on these GLUTEN FREE soy crips from whole foods all week. AND feeling crappy in the tummy all week - nausea, stomach aches, bloating = annoying. feel pretty much like i used to feel when i ate gluten! laid off the crisps yesterday and felt ok. was snacking on them today and pow! the annoying stomach aches are back. they are GLUTEN FREE! what could be the deaL!??? grrr...
  7. Mmm....the Most Amazingly Delicious (wedding) Cake!

you got that right!! AND, almond glory ships - fyi! and seriously, the bagels are the highlight of my glutenfree dining life: )
  8. ok, gluten-freer's -- i HAD to share i just got married 2 weeks and 1 day ago and had THE MOST BEAUTIFUL and DELISH WEDDING CAKE EVER!!!! AND it was gluten-free, of course!!! i wish i could put a pic in here b/c it was so stunning. and ppl were RAVING! and they didn't even know it was gluten free!! the bakery is called le crumb (aka my cake) bakery. its in van nuys. the girl that helped me is angela and she is so sweet. 5906 Kester Ave Van Nuys, CA 91411 (818) 780-3303 the bakery has a gluten free section where the bake all the products for almond glory - gluten free products. Phone : (818) 683 - 4303 if you havent tried almond glory stuff, DO! its changed my life. esp the foccaccia bread and bagels. serioulsy. they are not just a crappy substitute for "real" bread items. they are actually amazing. its all made from almond meal. so its actually nutritious. not just empty calories of random tapioca flour. anyhooo... the bakery makes all the stuff for almond glory. and almond glory has a mix for chocolate AND a "yellow" cake. (though the cake isn't really yellow - its tan with speckles...) and i swear to you, it was amazing. i got the "yellow" one for my wedding. and like i said, RAVE reviews! and i only told them it was gluten free AFTERWARD! so sorry if this sounds like a commercial but i love cake. aside from my husband -- the cake was the second most impt thing on my wedding list : ) and was so bummed to get diagnosed 10 months b/4 my wedding. so did a lot of research in finding a fabulous wedding cake. and i could not have been happier. truly. and they do cakes for all sorts of things - bdays, etc... so if you are in the area, i HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! happy eating, my friends!! xoxoxo
  9. thanks you two!!! but that doesn't mean i can go back to eating gluten, right? its funny b/c when i told my friends that i am now testing positive - they were like "GREAT! so now we can go out for pizza!!!" not true though, right???
  10. so, now i test negative for celiac. what does that mean?? anything???
  11. been off the gluten for like 8 months. i had my blood tested again 6 months after diagnosis and again last week. i HATE having blood taken and usually get a little clammy or whatever, though other times i am perfectly fine. however, the two times i have had it taken since i have been off the gluten, my body has completely freaked out. like - face loses all color, everything is fuzzy and my entire body breaks out in a COLD DRIPPING SWEAT. no. really. its gross. after about 5min or so, color somes back, and 10 -15 min later, i am ok to drive and stuff. but what IS THIS!!??????? its only happend like this since i got off the glu! crazy!
  12. you guys are gluten free rockstars! thank you so much for your feedback! going to a. get on the vitamins. b. try and lay off the prepared food and cook????? : ) c. keep my chin up and know that health is a comin!!
  13. verrrrrrrrrry interesting. b/c i dont ever get like "GI issues" so i never thought i was that sensitive. b/c i never really have like these sudden dramatic physical reactions! but maybe the fact that i am in a pretty constant state of nausea and fatigue - is just MY body's way of being sensitive. can't wait to read that celiac book you recommend. looks super interesting! thanks again, happy!
  14. thanks so much for the feedback. and you know, maybe i am NOT as careful with some things - wooden spoons, toasters, etc. as i should be... or not as insistant in restaurants as i should be. and when i make food that other ppl have cooked - i never know how careful THEY were. you know? AND, i DO eat a lot of stuff from the prepared food sections of traders or whole foods. and who knows! that stuff could be contaminated too? do you think that small amounts could be keeping me feeling this way? so run down and stuff?
  15. thanks so much, happy g! i still have hope. so, do you think that some body's continue to be symptomatic until all celiac positive-ness is gone? do you really think that i could feel better after i am negative? (and when the test DOES come back negative, i still have the disease, right?) confusing. but trying to hang in. and just hope that once i heal, i will FEEEEL different : )
