If you call the toll-free number on the package, Frito-Lay will send you a detailed list of their gluten-free products. In fact, they sent me a coupon, too.

I don't know if you have a Trader Joe's near you. (You can check their website for locations.) They have a list of their gluten-free products. They carry gluten-free bologna and turkey slices. Also, they have pre-packaged salads. (You can easily remove the non gluten-free items.) I hope this is helpful.

I'm from the Detroit area. I've ordered from Celiac Specialties before. The brownies and chocolate cookies are awesome. They were recently featured on the local news. In the fall, they're going to start offering some sugar-free items.

I just received an e-mail from my contact at the Tri-County Celiac Support Group. The Farmington Hills (MI) location of Buddy's Pizza will be carrying gluten-free pizza, and the others will be up and running soon. Good news for Detroit-area pizza lovers!

Yankee, Just wanted to put my two cents in. Did you know there are meals, which come in a resealable pouch, which only need boiling water to be added? I get them online, through Gluten Solutions. They have them listed under the brand, Gluten Free Cafe. Happy traveling!

I found a source of more expensive, gluten-free mustards. They're called Mother's Mountain Mustard ( You might want to consider these for a special treat. I hope this information is helpful.

Thanks for the information. I haven't heard of "Manna from Anna." Is it all kinds of bread products, or just sliced bread?

Are you aware that Enterolab has a website? Another member posted this under one of the other topics. I hope this helps.

Susan, i can't really contribute anything to the medical aspects of this discussion. However, I just wanted to say, that I believe everyone here just has your welfare in mind. I hope you take the advice with that in mind. Good luck with the future!

I'm curious, does your Celiac Center have a website?

    11. dianne added a post in a topic How Many Of Your Gi Doctors Were Willing?

I just saw a new GI because I wasn't happy with the one I had. The first GI never did an endoscopy, or a biopsy. GI number two says that the blood test that the first one did was such a poor test that htey don't even use it anymore. So, he's not sure that I have Celiac's. In my first office visit, he was gave me a more thorough exam than number one ever did. He's going to try me on a slice of toast in the morning, prior to an endoscopy four weeks from now. It's such a pleasure to have a GI who communicates with me, and seems to know what to look for, and cares about me! I wasn't familiar enough with celiac disease prior to being diagnosed, to know what tests to ask for. I don't even know what blood tests I had. Even after my diagnosis (which I had to call the doctor to get), he didn't discuss the condition with me, other than to refer me to a dietician. I'm so glad my PCP referred me to this doctor! This group of gastroenterologists seem to be very familiar with celiac disease. Even before I was referred to them, I found them on the Internet. through a celiac-related website.

      Buddy's Pizza

I've found out that there is someone at the Tri-County Celiac Support Group (Detroit area) working with the people at the Farmington Hills (MI) Buddy's to develop a gluten-free pizza. They are going to have a meeting there on July 29th, to get feedback. Wouldn't that be great?! I;ll let you know how this works out.

      Gluten-free Restaurant Website
After doing a search on Google, I found a website sponsored by the Westchester Celiac Sprue Support Group ( They work with the American Dietetic Association. You can do a search for gluten-free restaurants, according to geographic location. Unfortunately, they seem to have a limited number of entries. At least, they're trying, though! Hopefully, they will get more entries, as time goes by. I didn't find anything for the Midwest, but hipefully, the site will be helpful to those in other parts of the country. They also have other helpful features, such as a printable restaurant card. They seem to be a fairly new website. They started expanding their program to a national level in September, 2003. They are going to work with local Celiac Support groups. So, maybe we can help by getting the word out! I think this could prove to be a good resource.

    14. dianne added a post in a topic Outback

I had sent an e-mail to the Gluten Intolerance Group, regarding the absence of any mention of butter or sour cream on the Outback menu. Here is the response.

Both butter and sour cream should be pore, unless it is a low fat version, then it may have something added as an extender, i.e., modified food starch which you would want to know the source.

In the e-mail, I also requested that this matter be addressed in the menu.

I also was concerned about reservations. Fortunately, there were only three of us. Another thing that makes it inconvenient for us, is that they don't open until 1:30. I sent an e-meil, pointing out the inconvenience of their no-reservation policy, especially since they do such heavy advertising for the holidays. I don't know if it will do any good, but I feel like i'm doing something.

Good luck to all you Outback fans out there!

I went to Outback for Father's Day. It was great! I had a salad, prime rib, and baked potato with butter. I only had one problem. I had send the meal back for a clean plate. They accidentally gave me the au jus. and there was some left on the plate. I would also advise caution regarding sour cream. I didn't see any mention of it on the menu. I have always been under the impression that sour cream is a no-no. I brought my own gluten-free rolls, and asked for my own butter. We didn't have dessert, but I look forward to trying the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under. My non-gluten-free dad and ladyfriend were very happy, too. It was so nice to be able to order with a minimum of hassle.
