Balmex helps me too but doesn't address the cause. I think it is either stool leakage or more probably excess bile salts in the stool that are irritating. I think the best strategy is to bulk up the stool with fiber or absorb the bile salts with questran. Unfortunately questran seems to irritate my GERD. Always something

I tested positive at enterolab. I just saw Dr. Green in NYC to get his opinion. He took blood but did tell me that he feels enterolab is quzckery. Not sure what to believe. I have tested negative for sprue through conventional testing in the past. I will get the results in about a week. I tend to agree with Dr. Green as enterolab doesn't make much sense to me . I see everyone I know eat gluten all day with no problem but according to Dr. Fines' testing over 40 percent of the world can't tolerate gluten. This obviously isnt the case. Any opinions?

      Help Newbie

Did anyone have the symptom of constant burping, reflux, and upper bloating prior to their celiac diagnosis? I have these symptoms and as wondering if gluten could be my problem. I tested negative for sprue but decided to try the stool testing at enterolab and they came back postive for gluten sensitivity. My doc says my symptoms are not sprue and that enterolab and Dr. Fine are quacks. Any advice or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Why can't you drink absolute? I have a glass 3 or 4 nights a week. I was told all vodka was ok even if it is grain based.

      Help- Greatly Appreciated
Hi. I would be grateful if anyone could help me. Do these symptoms sound like sprue? I have constant burping, acid reflux, abdominal bloating, tons of gas, rectal itching, dry eyes(blepharitis), and sport injuries that never seem to heal.

I have been told that I have a small hiatus hernia but that it should not be giving me these symptoms.

I have had tests that show my stomach may empty too slow yet drugs to improve this have not made a difference.

I had a colonoscopy which showed inflamation at terminal ileum(possible crohns) yet crohns drugs have not made a difference and my symptoms don't sound like crohns

Had celiac bloodwork and a biopsy which were all negative.

Decided to do enterolabs testing and it showed that I am gluten intolerant, have small intestinal malabsorption, and have the gene for sprue.

Could I have sprue or is this test quackery? My GI told me to throw the results in the garbage. If I go gluten free, how long would it take to know for sure?

I greatly appreciate any opinions. What a great site.
