  1. Hey there everyone, it's been awhile sense I have checked the sight and wow looks like everyone has been busy. I just thought I would check in and say "hello" to everyone and see if anyone has big summer plans yet ? Thumper
  2. Thanks everyone that helped me to remember why I am staying gluten-free. All of you are correct and I have been feeling much better it is just so very hard and time comsuming to stay gluten-free that you forget how really sick you were before you felt better. I know it must sound stupid the question I had asked but I just needed a reminder that this is well worth everything to stay healthy. Thanks again, Thumper
  3. Ok I have reached a point where I have been gluten-free for 2 months and doing fairly good but I have lost sight of why I am doing all of this again. Following a gluten-free diet so could everyone chime in as to why I am doing this again ??? Thumper
  4. Hey everyone, I have been gluten-free for alittle over a month now. I have had my ups and downs and I still have ALOT to learn yet, but I have great friends in this wonderful group that have helped me tremendously. Well once again I find myself over my head this is the second day of having really terrible symptoms return to me, Imodium has helped some and I KNOW that I have not been glutened. So I am calling all sleuths to help me out with this...... when you have a terrible flare up like this one where do you start to look for the cause of it ?? The only new thing that I added to my diet was that I treated myself to Chocolate flavored Silk. I have been using soy milk (Silk) instead of dairy and never had a problem with it before. In the past I use to drink Silk trying to control my symptoms before I knew I have Celiac and never had a reaction to it but because I was still having gluten I am sure it made no difference. Those are all the facts and I can't come up with anything can any one tell me where to start or does anyone have any ideas as what might of caused this ?? Thumper
  5. Sense I have been gluten free sinse Feb. 6, 2008 which I realize is only 3 weeks I have been on a mission to learn as much as possible about celiac as fast as possilbe.. Maybe it is just because I was so very sick for over 13 yrs before getting a right diagnoses and maybe I have my expectations too high. I truly thought that by this time I would be feeling good as new and I am so frustrated because It seems all I have learned is that I also can't tolerate milk (dairy products) and I didn't have the chicken pox I have Dermatitis Herpetifomis and I have to learn about that as well. I am getting overwhelmed with my symptoms and stupidity all I did today was lay on the couch feeling awful, stupid, itchy, crabby, frustrated and my bottom is sore from all the trips to the bath room. Oh I forgot crying most of my day away.. I swear that I know nothing more than I did 3 weeks ago am I just stupid, am I reading the wrong book, The gluten-free bible by Jax Peters Lowell ?? I've spent all my money on gluten free food that I can't afford another book at this time and I am not finished with her book yet. And what the f*** do you use in recipes that call for milk when you can't have it ?? I have no one in my house to talk to about all this so I feel all alone in it I know there are those who have been living with this for many years, how did you all do it ?? How do you learn faster and when do you start to feel better ??? Thumper
  6. Question....Are you absolutely sure that this is chicken pox? Because you are Celiac...it may be Dermatitis Herpetiformus (sp?). I thought that I had poison Ivy last fall, before my diagnosis.....except that it didn't really look or act like poison ivy, wasn't helped with the usual treatments, and lasted a loooooong time. The blisters burned, and I wanted to take my skin off because the itch was so bad. The blisters on my feet (even on the bottoms...which should have been a clue that it wasn't P.I), bled under the skin and eventually scabbed...pretty nasty...esp. since my job had me on my feet 12 hrs a day. Anyway......you may want to be sure just what it is you have before you treat it. Derm. Hep. is a skin form of Celiac......you may be getting glutened. No actually I am not for sure it is chicken pox but it sure looks like it but what you just discribed sounds like it too... I know that when my children (all 4) had chicken pox I never got them and they had them really bad in fact I was still nursing my youngest (he was about 9 months) when they had them and I never got them... that was about 19 yrs ago. Then Erik got shingles and I never got them from that either and the doc told me at that time I must have a natural amunity (sp?) to them. I would go to the doc but right now my husband has just started a new job (YEAH!!!) and his insurance hasn't started yet, not till April.... So I am playing doc myself right now... ugh. What is dermatitis herpetiformis (sp?) I never heard of that before. I hate to admit it but you hit it on the head going around one's house scratching your behind isn't very atractive but like you said I itch ALL OVER and the blisters do burn ! So if it is this what is it and how do I get rid of it ?? What did you do ?? I think I know what a dog feels like w/ fleas....lol.... So if not the chicken pox and possibly dermatitis herpetiformis (sp?) can someone educate me ?? Thumper

  8. Anyone have any ideas as to how I can treat Chicken Pox at my age, 44 yrs. ?? I never had them as a child and it appears to be a very good chance that I have them. I want to itch my skin off !!! One would of thought if I had made it this long without getting them I was scott free of any chance of getting them, guess not. UGH !!!
  9. Hey All, I love the CSI humor going on right now I laughed so hard. I agree that humor is great to destress but I also have found out that stress certainly makes my symptoms worse. I just started to feel alittle better and then wham came the stress.... I do things like reading, knitting, crocheting and walks when I am not running to the bathroom...lol.. I would just like some fresh ideas and would love to hear from everyone what they do to unwind.. Thumper
  10. Hey thanks for posting the link, I found it very interesting. So much so I printed it out for what I call my "Celiac learning binder" Thanks again, Thumper
  11. I did forget to mention that I started a gluten-free multi, a gluten-free B complex, with the other stuff. I forget that I have been sick for over 13 yrs w/o a diagnoses and just recently correctly diagnosed. I guess I am so very worn down for so long and sick and tired of not feeling better that I expected I would feel better over night. Supid I guess or hopeful thinking or both. I just got up from a nap and am ready for another... sad really. Awake just long enough to eat Thanks for reminding me that it took along time of being sick and it will take time to get better. thumper
  12. Wow I have been sleeping alot lately and even after sleeping about 10 - 12 hours a night I am sleeping my days away lately. I have been gluten-free now for almost 2 weeks and just discoved that I can not tolerate any dairy a few days ago. When I am awake I have no energy and want to sleep. I just started on a probiotic and digestive enzymes to try to help with my D a few days ago and yes they are gluten-free. I don't feel sick in any way, other than the usual .....lol.... So I have no idea where or why this is happening to me. Any body have any ideas or advise ?? My poor dogs have gone with out there walks for about 2 weeks and are getting cabin fever. I feel so bad for them as they need to get their exercise and really so do I . Thumper
  13. Hey Green Bay Wisconsin, I am looking for some friends in our area that would like to exchange emails and share our triumphs and trials as I feel quite alone with this. Looking forward to hearing from as many of you as possible. Thumper websterenglish1134@yahoo.com
  14. My cardiologist did talk to my GP and my GI and now they are both pissed and refuse to do anything. I received a call from Mayo yesterday and was told that my cardiologist was the only info they received and based on only that info they wont do anything either, they need more info like from my GP and or GI before they would take on my case Nope my cardiac meds can't be given IV because if they were they would be fatal they are extended release and only through the extended release is what keeps my heart working.... right now I have lost 20 pounds in this short time and going down hill fast, nothing I have tried has slowed or stopped the D. I will take any and all prayers available. Thank you Thumper
