  1. Hi Mel, My son is IgA deficient. He had a positive IgG. I think about 115, over 20 being positive. I e-mailed Dr. Fine of Enterolab. He emailed me back and said that high serum IgG is a diagnostic of gluten sensitivity. He said his symptoms warranted a gluten free diet now. He also said sometimes IgA will be in stool but not blood but usually not. The malabsorbtion and gene tests would be unaffected. OK, that being said my son (19) tested positive for EVERYTHING. IgA included. He also has 2 copies of the gluten sensitive gene. I hope this helps Lisa

  4. Hi, My son (19) was diagnosed with a benign essential hand tremmor about 5 years ago. He is gluten intolerant. He is on the gluten-free diet now (3 months) and I wonder if they have gotten better. I will ask him when I see him (he is never home..LOL) Lisa

  6. Hi Jen, My son is 19 and suffered for about 5 years with nausea, vomiting, heartburn and very bad gas (burping constantly!!!). He is Iga deficient (10 percent of celiacs are) and his IgG was positive at 115 (over 20 is positive). He was sent from doctor to doctor and had a negative biopsy in July and many other tests. He does have severe damage to his esophagus due to the chronic heartburn. He was put on every med available and nothing worked.. Still the doctors said no it's not celiac. I thought well it may not be celiac but it may be gluten intolerance. They all said you can try the diet but it is a very hard diet and discouraged me from wanting to put him on it. He was willing to try enterolab and I THANK GOD we did because EVERYTHING came back positive. He doesn't have the gene for celiac, he has 2 copies of a gluten sensitive gene though.?? whatever that is. Today after having heartburn 24/7 and burping probably every 30 seconds during a conversation, my son is sooooo much better. I can not tell you how happy I am that my son feels human again! No more burping, no more vomiting and heartburn 80% better!! This just after 2 months on the gluten-free diet! I hope this helps! Lisa
  7. I have hypothyroidism and chronic hives (5 months now), my son (12) has the thyroid antibodies and is on synthroid too. My 16 yr old has vitiligo, an autoimmune skin disease. My oldest son is gluten intolerant, he had positive blood IgG and tested positive with enterolab. Three of my 4 sons have thyroid antibodies. They have to be watched for Hashimotos thyroiditis. The funny thing is neither of my parents or to our knowledge my grandparents have any autoimmune diseases! I don't know where it came from. The doctor said I inherited my lovely autoimmune diseases but I have no idea from who. Lisa

  9. If you feel better when you are gluten free then I would stay gluten free. Sometimes the biopsy will be negative but your positive bloodwork probably means you are gluten sensitive. If you are gluten sensitive you need to remain on a gluten free diet. My son has many of the same symptoms you have. He is IgA deficient and has a positive IgG. He too, has had neg. biopsies. I wrote to Dr. Fine of Enterolabs and he said a positive IgG means he has antibodies to gluten and should be on a gluten free diet. His doctors have basically no idea what to tell me or him.(he is 19) Celiac could be one of the hardest diseases to diagnose, it certainly is often misdiagnosed. If I were you I would stay gluten free Just my opinion, Good Luck and take care, Lisa

  11. I just bought the brownies from health food store. They were from Foods by George. They were absolutely delicious! They are wheat free, gluten free, casein free, lactose free, dairy free. It is amazing how good they are and no chemicals either!! (a bit pricey though $6.39 for a small tray) Good for special occasions or just to spoil yourself or your family. I wish I could make them!   12. Hi, I am also suffering from chronic hives right now. I have had them about 10 weeks. I've been to 2 internists and 2 allergists. If your sister's doctor said it's hives then she probably has hives. Has your sister been to allergist? They can work with the antihistamines to get the right combo of drugs for her. They did for me, well to keep me comfortable most of the time. I still have my times during the day or night when I get a little itchy!! Sometimes my lips swell, not fun!! I also have autoimmune thyroid disease and the doctor(s) told me that 30-35% of people with this also get chronic hives. They also told me more often than not you never find the cause(90-95% of the time). Enjoy your weekend! Lisa
