  1. Hi all - my 2 cents My mom cooks our holiday meals - and we have the full course.......the difference being: stuffing is cooked in a pan rather than in the bird. We make Sure the bird or ham is gluten free.... As for my mom's wonderful gravy.......we use cornstarch to thicken it. Veggies and Mashed potatoes are gluten free. the only change we made was how the stuffing is Cooked.....not a major deal. Good luck to all.... Dawn
  2. HELP - My son was formerly very is cold all the time.... also has fatigue - School thinks he is depressed - he says no just tired.... also has joint pain in the ankle - sprained it a while ago - but should be healed by now. He is very good (extremely) about his diet. I do not think he got into some gluten - do any of your kids have ongoing symptoms? Dawn
  3. does anyone have an idea what my son could use to make a gingerbread house? his teacher is asking for Christmas time (isn't that nice of her!!!!) Dawn
  4. My daughter Age 4 had no problem with the biopsy.....I too had a biopsy and it wasn't tramatic. The more stress you show your young one - the more they will have - we treated it as something that had to be done - lets do daughter also had one done at age 3. age 3 showed nothing, but age 4 yes....slight damage but it was there. The team in the hospital should tell You the stages of them Waking up, combative is normal, rubbing the nose is normal. Good Luck Dawn
  5. Hi - I didnt have to "break it" to my kids, they are told Everything - every step of the way. You can only shelter them so much.....she had no right telling you how you should Talk to your kids - Everyone is different.....and it is your kids body. The kids need to know. my 4 year old is very ok with it. We deal with it, we are constantly getting educated so it isn't a big deal. Yes it is overwhelming at first, but Everything new is. I had to tell my kids that their dad passed away, should I have "sugar coated" that? I had a friend who wouldnt let her teenage daughter Attend funeral services (even though the teen wanted to) - both my kids were there. it is life. let's live it. Dawn
  6. Hi all, Anyones children have arthritis? My son has ankle pain, 2 xrays, and a visit to the orthopedic - now onto a rheumatologist..... Dawn
  7. NO Cheating please........I lost my husband to this terrible disease.....I make my kids pizza at home - buy the gluten-free pizza dough at whole foods, roll it out put sauce and cheese on it...bake is even easier than driving out to pick up pizza. One cheat leads to another cheat. and now is the time to stress to your kids the importance of staying gluten-free means Staying healthy in the gut. just b/c you can see the harm or have symptoms doesnt mean it isnt happening. Dawn
  8. I am very careful. we use a lot of paper plates. My kids do not use the toaster oven anymore.....if they do they use foil in it.... they like to heat stuff up in the Microwave on a plate.... my 11 year old is very obsessive about being careful. He Washes his hands constantly and doesnt like gluten foods near him......but he saw what happened to his he is entitled. Please be Careful!!!
