  1. IM a 13 year old celiac vegetarian. Any good recipes?
  2. so ive had celiac for over 3 years and ive been a vegetarian for 6 months. Im so sick of eating the same thing over and over. any good recipies? o and im 13 so try to think of recipes kids might like
  3. I go through that crap every day at school. She was a woman who didn't realize your condition. It might help if you told her what would happen, and if you ate wheat every day for a long time, you will develop cancer. It might be best to keep doing what your doing, or what i do is eat before i go to a birthday party or whatever. This way you wont have to worry about getting gluten, and won't have to explain anything to anybody. If they do ask, just say no thank you i'm not hungry. The only downside to this situation for me, is that some people think i'm anorexic (and im a thirteen year old boy!) because i try not to make a big deal about celiac. If that lady person was mean to you, she might not been rude, she just might not of understood your condition. Try not to hold to big of a grudge. Will :P :P :P :P :P :P
  4. . Please also include your first name, state or country, diagnosed age, and current age. Will -- diagnosed at 10 -- current age 13 -What were you thinking when you were diagnosed? I was on these loopy pills cause of endoscopy, but the night after i was wondering how i would live my whole entire life having celiac -How did you react when you heard? I was actually pretty calm, because i didn't realize how hard it would be. -How did you family react? What were some of their responses? My mom was upset because see had it and felt it was her fault and my dad and sister didn't really care that much -What sort of tips or advice do offer for other teenagers who are just now being diagnosed? To never cheat, because it's never worth it and you will pay the price> -What are some horror stories that you've experiences while being a Celiac? Ummmmm i don't get the question -How do you handle dating being a Celiac? It's not a problem. Most of the time I go bowling or to the movies, and i haven't but if you do go out to dinner, just order gluten free. Its not a big deal at all -"Why me?"/"Why now?" stories. I don't get this one either -How did you come to realize that having celiac disease was not the end of the world? After a year, i started to stop craving wheat, so i started to realize things would be fine -How did you tell your friends? How did they react? To this day only my closest friends no, and they react like its no big deal and try to get me to eat wheat -Tell me a time that you cheated, if you had, or a time where you wanted to. I haven't ever cheated, but have wanted to whenever i'm angry or at a birthday/pizza party -Tell me a time where you friends have tried to get you to cheat. Every day at school or at any party -Come up with your own question! -This isn't a question but like a statement I was diagnosed on the exact day of my 10th birthday -How long did it take for the symptoms to go away? About two weeks of a gluten free diet. How much wheat does it take to set you off? A tiny amount will give me a stomach ache and a lot will make me throw up a lot
  5. as long as the parents are capable of sending a lunch from home, and as long as a lunch from home does not disable the child to go to school, they do not legally need to. The only exception would be if a child was on food support, which is were they work in the kitchen and get free lunches, then i think the school would have to serve him a gluten free luch
  6. Does anybody know of any good gluten free lunches to pack your child for school who is also a vegetarian? Please respond Will
  7. When i first got diagnosed with celiac, my syptoms were not bad, mabey a stomach ache, but about a month ago i only had a bag sun chip (which i though was gluten free and please dont lechure me on how i need to be more careful) and got really sick and was puking for an hour Is this normal or is something bad happening? please respond Will
  8. For all you people who say we will never be rid of it and your bracing yourself for the worst and preparing to cushion yourself if you might spend the rest of your life with celiac think about this, There is a cure for celiac, it just hasn't been discovered in the prehistoric days, antibiotics were posible, just not discovered, and with some research and money, it was. Just because no body knew how to cure it, doesn't mean it would never happen Celiac is that way to, and if we educate the public, we will be rid of it faster some of you people may just deal with it and do nothing about it, but im not that way, and ive hope ive convinced you not to be that way either
  9. Sorry i haven't been on lately. You guys didn't scare me away, ive just been busy with friends and track and field and stuff, but anyway thank you all for your concern. ive followed some of your recipes and my favorite was the pizza on a corn tortilla. I have still stayed gluten-free and hadn't let my sisters taunts get to me. School is almost starting and i think it might be harder to keep gluten free there because there are so many temptations. THank you all for your great recipies, but are there any ideas for school lunches to make? please keep posting lunch ideas Will
  10. Thanks for all your comments, but for the record, i have enough nutrition and fat in my diet. I get fats from cheese and nuts, they just get like skim milk and fat free cool whip and sour cream and stuff. Also my parents are health nuts so i take vitamins. So please don't comment on my nutrition, just on what would be good to eat, or do stuff that will help with how im feeling
  11. Even though i am only 13, listen to what i have to say. everybody has heard of diabetes, so millions of dollars and fund razers are going to help find a cure, but in my school of 700 only 10 kids have ever heard of it. We need to educate the public so more donations and effort to finding a cure will be made. Most people have seen the help us find a cure diabetes commercial, and i think there should be a celiac commercial to. If we educate the public, changes might be made. This is not an impossible task, after all the lactated has been developed to help with lactose intolerance, so something like a glutaid, could be invented to cue gluten intolerance. Tell me if you think this might work or at least help
  12. I'm a 13 year old boy and have had celiac for 3 years and have never intentionally eaten gluten once. Everywhere i go i am surrounded by wheat and temptations and I just cant take it. All of the specially made gluten free food tastes awful to me so i only eat things that are naturally gluten free. My sister and all of my friends try and get me to eat just a little bit of wheat and i don't know what to do. I am also a vegetarian and my family only buys low or no fat things. Can anybody help me? I don't think i can go without eating gluten unless something changes.
