I'm a Celiac sufferer myself and am currently completing a final year research project on the lifestyle dilemmas we face on a daily basis. I know that personally speaking, I've faced problems with overseas travel and similar. I'd love to be able to discuss these issues with fellow Celiacs and would appreciate if anyone would be willing to dicuss what things they find affect their everyday life most. A few starters would be: How do you find dining out in restaurants? What sort of issues do you find you have? As time goes by have you found 'safe' solutions to any problems?
Has the way you view travelling changed since diagnosis? Is travelling stressful? How do you guarantee 'gluten-free', especially in countries with other languages? Have you had any negative experiences?
I'm also interested in the sort of 'risks' us gluten-free people take, or are expected to take. Do you feel that non Celiac people don't understand the full extent of a gluten-free life?
Have you found support groups? How have these affected your lifestyle?
I will happily provide my email address if anyone would like to contribute but would prefer to do so in private.
I'm hoping to be able to provide some collective answers to the many non-scientific dilemmas of a gluten-free life!
It has been quite difficult for me to locate fellow Celiacs in large enough numbers to support my research- but I'm glad I've found this forum, there seems to be plenty of us here!
Thanks in advance
