  1. I have symptoms, mostly bone and joint pain, and have IBS (or so they thought), and bloating, etc. I started a gluten free diet 2 days before the test, and have begun to feel better (it's been over a week now). I don't understand the difference between sensitive and specific. Does it mean it's specific for celiac, but even people without it test positive?

  3. Hi. I just got blood test results back, and my Dr. wants me to get an other opinion because he says he can not interpret these results. What do these mean? AGA - IgA = 3 (negative) AGA - IgG = 7 (negative) ERA t-Transglutamine IgA = 3 (negative) Reticulin IgA Ab - negative (neg: <120) Reticulin IgG Ab = 1.80 HIGH (neg: <120) The report says that IGg class retuculin antibodies are not specific for celiac nd occur in 20% of patients with active disease. Help!
  4. This is so confusing re: vinegars! I thought distilled vinegar was safe. I have a list of gluten-free foods, and French's mustard is listed, but Gulden's isn't. I bought Grey Popupon, though. So, is vinegar good or not?????

  6. I have read in some places that vinegar is safe, some places that it's not, and some places that certain kinds are safe and others aren't. What's the story with vinegar?
  7. I have many of the same symptoms. Has she been tested for Lyme disease? Has she gotten her thyroid tested? Just a couple of thoughts..
  8. Of course, I forgot to add that I am taking the generic - that may be a whole different story. Nothing's easy, is it?
  9. Boy - you scared me! I just looked it up - it's gluten free on the list I saved off the internet from the Wheaton Gluten-Free support group. Whew! It seems to help me sleep better. The burning is bad at night.
  10. Thanks everyone - I thought I was going crazy with this bone pain! I have been to an orthopedic dr. and a rheumatolgist, and was x-rayed, tested for ANA, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, lyme disease, and parvovirus - all negative. I just started the diet 3 days ago, and hoped for a change this fast, but I guess I'm too impatient. I also started taking a multi-vitamin, so maybe the calcium in that is increasing the pain? What did you/do you take for the pain int he meantime? Now I'm on Darvocet at night, and Advil during the day (te pain is worse at night - sometimes I can't sleep.) I took Naproxen for a while, but that stopped working.
  11. I had abdominal surgery in March 2004, after which I developed all kinds of sympoms - bloating way longer than it was supposed to last, dizzy spells, and frequent infections. Then in July I experienced bone pain in my ankles and hands and feet, as well as arthritis-like symptoms in my hands. I was diagonosed with IBS years ago as well, and my mom is gluten intolerant. I've also had rashes on my back on and off. It is all starting to come together now. Anyone else get bone pain as a symptom (especially at night!)? I qm also slightly anemic. I had the blood test yesterday, and am waiting for results.
