I have been Gluten and Dairy intolerant for as long as I can remember. I found out recently that it is a family thing. I haven't known what was wrong with me, and the doctors didn't know also
My Natropath helped me face the truth and I have been Gluten / Dairy / Soy free for about 4 months now.
I have noticed that I am REALLY tasting my food now. Some pleasant, some unpleasent. Before chicken was very bland and now it is really chookie and is always a shock. I often can't eat it as it is so strong to me. My husband still eats it so it can't be the chicken Before I ate a lot of chicken. The taste of beef and pork has also changed but not as much as the chicken.
Has this happened to anyone else? I welcome your input.
Hi Byte Me, I have found doctors to be a waste of time and money. I have had doctors humiliate me when I was seeking their help to get well again. The only true understanding and help I have received in more than 30 years has been from a woman Natropath. She does the VegaTest for foods, chemicals, additives and lots more, also how your organs are coping. I get a read out each time I see her and so I can judge for myself how I am slowly getting better. I also take food, that I suspect to her and she puts it on the vega machine, conferming my suspicions. It seems like a domino effect to me. I had no idea how much of what I was eating was affecting my health. I remove gluten and dairy /casin and also find soy / maize was also making me ill. You have to be like a detective and you are your client search for clues, be observant and then nail the offender for life
What doesn't kill us will make us stronger and wiser to perhaps help others

Hi there everyone Any other husbands/wives having trouble understanding what you are going through? My hubby is a big dutchman, fit as a bull, never been sick in his life except for work related injuries. He can't see that gluten, milk/soy, dairy or additives/preservitives etc can be making me so sick. I am in my 4th month of elimination and this process has him spooked as he thinks I will end up with nothing to eat and fears I will end up like 'Monk" from the TV series. I have tried to tell him that I need knowledge through study to gain power to find out what is making me so sick and with avoidance hopefully get better. He has seen me in 'attacks' lasting for up to 4 hours and yet he can't grasp the concept that my life has to change if I am to get better, and knowledge, elimination or avoidance is the key. But first I have to know through trial and error. Now that Gluten/Dairy/Soy have been removed so many other things are surfacing it even makes my head spin at times.
I welcome your input.
The problem with the bloating and gas is that it puts too much pressure on the muscular wall of the upper left side of the bowel. The pressure puts such force on the muscular wall that is breaks through causing pockets , = 'Diverticular Disease' which you then have for the rest of your life. This also causes pain, nausa, vomiting,diarrhea and a whole heap of symptoms, especially when it get's infected. It gets better and better all the time, doesn't it !!!!
You have to get the bloating and gas under control. Find out what is causing it and get that out of your diet. Mine is lactose, casine , soy milk, legumes, and the cabbage family.
We all need that :-)
After 30 years of suffering I.B.S. Chronic Fatigue and M.E. I went to a Natropath and had a 'VegaTest' for Gluten and other foods. I was found to be Gluten, Dairy, Oats , Lactose and Casin, and even Yoghurt ( which most can tolerate)intolerant. After removing these from my diet I was feeling sick when using soy milk, which I switched to many years ago. This also tested very high. Life can be very difficult as I react violently with some maize/corn and then not react with some baking mixes with corn in them. Fresh corn tested OK.
I had a 3.5 hour attack with CC corn chips and they list the ingrediants being only maize and vegie oil !! I also had a bad reaction, 2 hours long to Gravey mix and yet the ingrediants I considered to be safe for me.
Both these attacks started 3 hours after eating.
I am stressed to go out as I don't know when I will be struck down. We live in the country and it is easy to be caught far from home. I was caught 75km from home in a shopping centre the other day. Luckily I could buy a small bucket to be sick into, there and all the way home. This has happened twice in the last week. I now don't eat if I have to go out and also don't eat while I am out, however an apple seems to be OK. This situation is not good
I am trying the Paleo Diet of meat, seafood, eggs, vegies and fruit to get some relief.
My poor long suffering husband doesn't know what to think, he has no experience with all of this.
Doctors have been useless for me. I have had to put my faith into my Natropath and also the VegaTest. She has been so kind and understanding and has validated all that I have known for years.
Reading through what others have said I think that it is good advice to consider ALL Gluten and other foods we are intolerant to as rat poision because it is poisioning our bodies and making us sick and even killing us.
