About Me

I'm 51 and was suddenly hit with multiple food-intolerances about 4 yrs ago.

  1. I was at a “Greek” restaurant last night and saw a Greek omelette. I hadn’t had a gyro since becoming gluten-Intolerant, due to the pita they always come in. So, I quickly googled if gyro meat was gluten-free and I got this “A standard gyro meat recipe (you can find them simply by doing a google search) would be gluten-free. Lamb or lamb and beef mi...
  2. My family and I traveled there in May for the first time. Its ALWAYS scary traveling with multiple food intolerances/allergies!! Its really not THAT hard to find gluten-free in HI. As with anywhere, the nicer the restaurants, the easier it is to find do-able items on a menu AND real chefs that can customize. But seafood and fish is SOOOO plentiful there...
  3. REALLY??? My hubby got turned onto cigars about a year ago after being given a Java-flavored one. I have to admit that I enjoyed a few puffs of each that he has tried. Well, most of them, lol. I haven't noticed anything that would make me wonder about gluten in them, tho. However, I have often had a degree of bothersome issues and never knew why! Thanks...
  4. Not really, but I do take a daily supplement of acidophilus and if I suddenly feel I'm having issues I take a second supplement at the end of the day and it seems to help it all pass quicker
  5. always in learning mode

  6. Greetings! I'm here to learn. I hope to encourage others and pass on what little I know.

  7. Does anyone know if the grilled chicken patties offered at McDonald's is gluten-free? I'm planning a long road trip home soon and was wondering if a quick McD's stop could be possible? Thank you!
  8. I'm sorry if I repeat something someone else said....I didn't take the time to read all the replies you've gotten so far. Sugar feeds infection. Period. Starch, as in potato, becomes sugar in the system. Corn has natural sugars. Alot of foods are high in sugar or turn to sugar as digesting. I would cut those type of foods out and make sure you get your...
  9. eggs have become a big no-no for me also. I MISS BREAKFAST FOODS!!!!! I have simply learned to eat non-breakfast type foods. Really, the goal is to put nutrition and food into my stomach and make it till lunch. I usually eat leftover whatever was for supper the past night or two. There are some great egg replacers for baked good....ENER-G powdered Egg...
  10. my first thought is that could you possibly be intolerant of other things too? I have discovered I am intolerant of rice also and thats an alternative that is usually used when making something gluten-free. My only other thought is that perhaps they don't do all the cleaning that's necessary to be "certifiably" gluten-free between their making of the...
