      Entero Lab Quick Question
I was reading the directions for the enterolab tests. It said to have one complete stool. Part of mine um landed in the toilet instead of the bowl but I had more than 1/2 a cup of what was needed. Does this matter? I got my results back and they were negative (Fecal Anti-gliadin IgA: 8 Units)

Yeah, I understand you, another theory I heard, which I mentioned above is that no matter how much you eat the body holds on to every calorie (because it wants nutrients) and therefore slows the metabolism. That's just a theory though.

      Thanks everyone!
From what I gather, the Celiacs that gained weight did so because their body was starving for more nutrients, so this lead to overeating.
      very interesting..

I'm talking about the ones that gain weight instead of lose weight while eating gluten and being undiagnosed. Not just overeating on gluten free foods. Thanks everyone for your thoughts!

How Do Some Celiacs Put On Weight?
So I know there are quite a few of Celiacs that put ON weight instead of losing it. One theory I heard is that the body is so malnourished of vitamins that it holds on to every calorie and the metabolism slows down. For those of you who were undiagnosed and overweight, did you deal with anemia issues?

Let me know what you think, it's very interesting to me.

thank you so much for your input! I really appreciate it.
I'm trying to look at all points of view as to why I have always been so irregular. I got my first period at a normal time (I was 12) and I always grew at an adequate pace. I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and I knew I had PCOS but I was wondering if gluten was maybe a factor to my missing period. I'm waiting for my results from Entero lab but since I don't have any malabsorption issues (no calcium deficiencies or anemia), I'm thinking that may not be the culprit.

You're right, the hormones and everything is just so complicated! I'm working really hard on balancing them.

The Link Between Celiac And Infertility
So I'm still not sure if I am gluten intolerant but I was wondering what caused Celiac patients to suffer from infertility. Is it the vitamin malabsorption that lowers progesterone levels? Do any of you have any good articles on this topic? All I have read is that Celiac is associated with infertility but it doesn't explain HOW. For example, I have amenorrhea, and my SHBG level is extremely low. I read that this could be due to excess insulin. When I tried to see if Celiac had anything to do with it I couldn't find anything.
      Any ideas?

Could It Be Gluten Intolerance Or Celiacs?

Ok so lately I have been doing a ton of research, including on gluten intolerance. I was reading articles on how recurrent ear infections in kids can be due to wheat allergy. When I was little I used to have a ton of ear infections. The skin inside my ears is also dry. Then I read that women that are gluten intolerant can have amenorrhea, which is what I have. Here's the thing though. If I did have gluten intolerance as a child wouldn't I have suffered from more symptoms children have (like delayed growth, maybe GI issues, delayed menstruation, etc.)? I don't suffer from GI issues nor non GI issues (except the irregular periods). My theory was that because my estrogen levels were so low, it triggered my hypothyroid problem, which happens to a lot of menopausal women. But then I read that wheat causes hormonal imbalances too. Oh, also there is no history of Celiac's/gluten intolerance in my family.

I am worrying myself sick always trying to find out what's wrong with me. I could hardly sleep last night. U until three months ago all I thought I had was PCOS and then I got diagnosed with Hashimoto's (which isn't surprising because my aunt and dad both have it.) I want to take the entero labs to see if I am gluten intolerant but I'm just a poor college student and I can't afford it. Could I just ask my doctor to see if I have the genes for gluten intolerance or Celiac's? Any insight?

      Thanks for your reply!
So is it common for someone to have no symptoms AT ALL even during childhood and still suffer from this?

I'm thinking of getting the enterolab done but it just costs so much Do you know if insurance an cover it or part of it?

And congrats on your weight gain but that's the last thing I want lol I want to lose 20 lbs.

I dunno...I feel like I must have actual symptoms. I'm just super scared to have this.

Not everyone with hashimoto's has to have celiac's right?

      Hashimoto's And Celiac?

I was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Someone said that if you already have an autoimmune disorder, then you're likely to have Celiac's. So I did some reasearch and found these symptoms on google:
      Abdominal pain
      Abdominal distention, bloating, gas, indigestion
Decreased appetite (may also be increased or unchanged)
      Diarrhea, chronic or occasional
Lactose intolerance (common upon diagnosis, usually goes away following treatment)
      Nausea and vomiting
Stools that float, are foul smelling, bloody, or
