  1. I've read several articles over the last year linking GMOs and Monsanto crap and the incredible rise of celiac disease in people. It's made me more aware and willing to eat cleaner and healthier... no matter what the cost in my rural area of the U.S.
  2. I've read these articles and the scientific study posted in the Publications forum. It's SCARY. After reading them, I vowed to go GMO free, organic, to raise chickens for meat and eggs, to grow most, if not all, of our veggies. A few days later, when I'd calmed down a little (haha)... and found organic eggs at the grocery for FIVE DOLLARS a dozen... I've...
  3. I've been gluten-free for over 10 years and can count on one hand how many times I've been glutened. The last time was my own fault ... I ate a wheat hot dog bun thinking it was gluten-free (again... my own fault). Less than 2 hours later, my body just purged itself... constant vomiting and diarrhea shooting out of me at the same time. I ended up having to...
  4. I've been gluten-free for 10 years. About a year in, I chowed down on a big hunk of crusty bread slathered w/ butter and NOTHING happened. I actually had thought of a "monthly cheat," but never did it. About 4 years in, I was glutened accidentally and just made it to the bathroom when the diarrhea hit about 4 hours later. Just a few months ago, I ate an entire...
  5. Not having anything to so w/ celiac but still makes me shudder is when I went to my OB/GYN pregnant w/ my first (of 3) daughters and told him I was felt so sick all the time I could barely eat because I was so nauseous and barfed so often that I was losing weight rather than gaining it. He literally put his hand on my shoulder and said, "You know... I really...
  6. I've seen their commercials and sort of assumed the cantina bowl would be gluten-free, but I sure wouldn't trust it w/ the cross contamination issues.
  7. When my youngest was diagnosed w/ celiac she was also experiencing bladder symptoms. For example, she drank a glass of orange juice... and by the time the glass was empty she said it felt like she had glass shards in her urethra! She did a lot of research on interstitial cystitis and ultimately found that she was intolerant to nearly EVERYTHING. Her diet...
  8. We had one health food store in Mountain Home... 25 miles away... now there are two!! Woo hoo!! At the one store, the owner offered to order anything I wanted/needed, but I had to tell him that while I certainly appreciated his effort to help me and how I'd like to patronize local businesses... gluten-free food is expensive and I can order from the online...
  9. We're almost on the border of MO in AR... between Gainesville, MO and Mountain Home, AR. Watching tornado warnings... ugh!! Go Phillies!! (sorry... we moved here from PA and still love our Phillies!)
  10. Hi, thanks for your response to my post, I just wanted you to know I've put a post-it note on my fridge saying 'I'm gluten free because it's good for me!', it'll make me smile tomorrow morning when I'm feeling blue!

  11. I was diagnosed at age 48 after only 2 months of ANY symptoms. I guess it can happen at any time! My 3 daughters have been diagnosed in their mid 20s and early 30s.
  12. has not set their status

  13. I've been to many CFAs and never had a problem! I have fries and their Ranch dressing to dip in. It's my only fast food pleasure... and rare, as there are none where we live!
  14. Thoughts??? You're damaging your small intestine every time you eat even a tiny piece of bread!! Are your experiences related to eating bread even occasionally? I'd think SO!! Bread seems to be one of the easiest things to replace anymore... even gluten free bagels are good... so do yourself a favor!!!
  15. I went thru the nighttime diarrhea too. After going gluten-free, it went away. It returned recently, and I've come to the sad conclusion that it's dairy causing it this time. I'm finding going dairy free more difficult that going gluten-free was!!
