kquigley added a topic in Celiac Disease - Parents of Kids or Babies With Celiac DiseaseGluten Sensitivity - Hyperactive Behaviour & Bladder ProblemsMy 4 year old daughter has been having constipation problems for a few years now, which has lead her to have issues with her bladder. She wets herself almost on a daily basis, sometimes it may only be a small leakage, other times she fully wets herself. I have the constipation under control but the bladder issues continue. She was fully toilet trained for around 8 months before the bladder problems began.
She also has very hyperactive behaviour, both in and out of school. She can be fine and calm one minute then its like something switches and she gets really hyper, which is sometimes hard to control, her teacher in school has complained a number of times the last few weeks about her. Her behaviour can be very impulsive and she does things that surprise me, it can be very unpredictable what she does next.
I have celiac disease, so we had blood tests done on her but they were negative. I’m maybe thinking she may have gluten sensitivity.
Does anyone have any experience of bladder/hyperactive behaviour with a gluten sensitive child? Did cutting gluten out help with symptoms?
Many thanks in advance.

kquigley added a topic in Celiac Disease - Parents of Kids or Babies With Celiac DiseaseNo Visable Damage On EndoscopyI was diagnosed with celiac as a child. Both my children have had tummy problems, my son (8) suffers with constipation, very short and underweight and my daughter (14 months) with chronic diarrhoea since being weaned, although not underweight. They both had blood tests done which shown negative for celiac antibodies. My paediatrician wanted to still perform an endoscopy on them to rule out celiac as false blood tests are common. After the procedures were performed the paediatrician told me he couldn

kquigley added a topic in Celiac Disease - Parents of Kids or Babies With Celiac DiseaseConstant Loose StoolsI have a 13 month old daughter who has had continual loose stools for months. When she first started solids I just thought they were loose because she ate lots of fruit and veg, now the stools are becoming much nastier in smell, full of undigested food, they are very pale in colour.
I took her to the docs a few weeks ago and have an appointment to see a paeditrican in 2 weeks time. Apart from her having the loose stools she has a constant runny nose, wind, her moods seem to becoming one of a irritated child but seems happy alot of the time also. She hasn't lost any weight but hasn't put any on in a month.
I have celiac disease, which I had from being a child, it runs in my family, I have an aunt with it and also my great-grandmother had it. My mum said my symptoms were mainly vomitting and crying in pain all the time, though I never lost weight.
Do you think there could be a chance with these symptoms that she has celiac?
