About Me

I've been gluten free for over four years. DX Celiac in May 2010. I'm also, nut and tomato free.

If you're a newbie to Celiac DX, you will find your way, it does get easier to manage. Enjoy the forums and people here. You are not alone. Some of the best pieces of advice I received was to keep a food dairy, and don't feel the need to buy every gluten-free product you see.....Also, if you wonder "what can I eat"? Check out the thread.."whats for dinner" Great ideas......

Remember you are your best advocate....

You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have.

  1. Probably the same thing I would! LOL This is how I feel lately, I had to fight for my Celiac DX and I still continue to fight for my health everyday. I hope in this fight, I may bring some type of knowledge and awareness of what Celiac disease is to someone for the good. <off soap box>
  2. To make a long story short, I went to my local ER last night (had to explain Celiac disease to all) ask ER doc would he please check to see if med was gluten free? He was very smug and told me "I've never know gluten to be in meds"! I said "yes it can be"! He came back acting like a jerk and said "the pharmacist even crossed their eyes at gluten free" "I...
  3. Thanks IrishHeart! I've been lurking around I can do that more in the summer. Thanks Gotta Ski.
  4. Amen to that!! I've had several people ask me about gluten free to lose weight because of the "Wheat Belly" book or a DR told them to go by this book!!! "This sounds like what you do" UGH!!!!! I told them all okay, sure, I'll help you, I went gluten free and gained 40 pounds! I'm gluten free! Allergy free! Sorry, Its a thorn in my side. On another...
  5. I have family coming in from out of state and we are all getting together tonight. They had the idea for a big mexican dinner. I'm making black bean and corn salsa, Crossing fingers. chicken enchiladas with a cheese, sour cream sauce with green chiles. I cannot have tomoato, so I'm getting creative.
  6. Some hard cider and BIG baked potato with butter....some cheese and crackers....it's a carb night! With a little dairy Can I use the cider as fruit?
  7. I'm having gluten-free pumkin pie and roasted veggies.......that's what I'm taking to sister's house. I've been reacting to something off and on for a week now and I'm not feeling so well today.
  8. I'm tired, so I'm having a baked potato with cheese/bacon and BUTTER
  9. Veggie nachos and lovely melted cheese with........A BIG glass of wine
  10. Before DX...My regular MD patted my leg and said "well, I'm sure your GYN can fix you up" After having surgery (many pills, and ct scans)to see if I had a "female" problem, my GYN said.."have we thought to send you to a gastro" Gastro PA told me it was IBS...only after feeling even worse on that diet, did I go back to eating salads. Feeling somewhat...
  11. I've been so busy and tired! I'm keeping it simple Udis bread with canola mayo and sliced boiled eggs. Perhaps tomorrow I will cook!
  12. Greek salad with a glass of wine : ) keeping it simple tonight.
  13. I found Pirate Booty at AlDi in NC for $1.49 a bag! If any of you have one near by you may want to check. I found gluten-free rice crackers there in the spring that I liked.
