My kids found out that Fruity Pebbles and Coco Pebbles are gluten-free too!!! I made Fruity pebbles treats and they were very very very delicious! Very sugary taste if that's what you're craving. My friend found coco pebble treats already made in packages at Basha's in AZ! Everyone ate them before I could try it though:(

What If My Chicken Eats Wheat?
My ex-mother in law works at one of the grocery stores in the meat department and she met a woman who told her that she cannot eat chicken because they eat "feed" which contain gluten. I really didn't think this was a problem because it's digested or what ever. However, she's convinced. Apparently there's expensive chicken that have not consumed gluten but is this really necessary? Anyone else have any thoughts?

Thanks Keri! It's mom's like you that help make me feel I'm doing the right thing. Sometimes people who don't relate think I'm being extream. I'm almost a year at being gluten free and still accidently gluten myself here and there. It's going to take some time but I will never ever go back!

    4. missingtortillas added a post in a topic Macyoes Mexican Restraunt gluten-free Menu

I noticed this posting was from 3 years ago so I'd like to update a little and see what others have found. I ate at Macayo's in Goodyear a few times in 2010 & 2011 and each time felt ill. The last time I ate there the waitress said, "all the corn tortillas are dusted with wheat". Then, when I went to the one on 75th & thomas I spoke to the manager and he said NOTHING is gluten free but the company has been working on it for a while and it's going to require a lot of time and training for the cooking staff. Eventually one day it will be gluten free if this company doesn't give up. As for now...NOT GLUTEN FREE. Does anyone else have any experience with Macayo's?

    5. missingtortillas added a post in a topic Does The Reaction Get Worse Over Time

This is an older Topic but I have not learned how to use this forum just yet. I've noticed that I have reactions from Dr. Pepper when it's from the fountain machine at Circle K and from Barro's Pizza (I didn't there but my friends picked me up a Dr. Pepper at lunch). My reactions consist of my tummy painfully expanding and the feeling of not being able to take a deep breath. The feeling of not being able to breath right while having a conversation just like when I've had gluten.

They have the one size for 79cents but the lids are so hard to get out that you end up grabbing 5 at a time just to pull one lid out. I glance over at the hot dog machine and only imagine who got a hot dog first or who was eating chips etc. then touched all the lids in the front including the one I'm about to pick. I try to pull out 3, discard, then pull out 3 more and pick the center one. I don't think it works though because they all look like they've been smudged on the side from fingers. YUCK!

I just don't want it to be the Dr. Pepper itself because I'm addicted big time! Anyone have this problem?

      Diagnose Or Self Diagnose?
Daughter was just diagnosed with Celiac's Disease. I stopped going to the doctor for me to get her diagnosed as it is a long process and many different doctors and doctor appointments and time off work and copays etc. I know it's genetic and I am sure that I have it and so does my mom even though never diagnosed....Do I now try and eat gluten again and get a diagnosis? Is it worth it? The pain? The sick days the NO LIFE?

I realize that diagnosing her officially was necessary due to her age but I'm not in school any more so can I just self diagnose myself and move on?

The place-mat is such a good idea! My daughter is in 4th grade, was just diagnosed with Celiac's and I'm freaking out. How will I'll give her good tasting food in a "cold lunch" and have her not be hungry?

Spanish Rice Made With Chicken Bouillon Ruined A Baby Shower!
New to be being gluten free and went to a baby shower. Passed all the processed foods and was so happy to see Spanish rice. After a few minutes from eating my tummy started that all too familiar pain starting to creep in. Over heard the lady who made it saying she added chicken bouillon to the rice and knew that was it. I thought well, I'll stay calm and use my brain power to keep me in check at least until presents begin to be unwrapped or a game starts. NOPE, went to restroom, was mortified when I came out and graciously excused myself then drove pretty fast home. I was there under an hour. I feel so bad because I could have eaten and should have eaten before going to the party. Now I missed my friend's baby shower and am here blogging instead! Disappointed.

    9. missingtortillas added a post in a topic Frustrated!

My sister saves a small amount of food for me before the family starts serving themselves or before she adds the gluten type sauces to it. No one else in the family does that for me but my mom n sisters. Cross contamination is inevitable at a potluck party. Even the salsa bowl becomes unsafe when kids dip chips that are not safe for me to eat. If going to someones house I try to eat first. In real life situations I've had to eat carrots and chips for dinner because I didn't plan ahead. Hate when that happens but it's reality.

    10. missingtortillas added a post in a topic Sick Just By Touching Or Smelling Gluten

I can't use my BIG SEXY hair spray because I get really sick after. I didn't realize the connection until I recently went gluten free. In January I started a food journal and decided to add in details about how I felt when I felt icky. Low and behold GLUTEN was the underlying cause. Guess what's in my hairspray? That's right, Wheat. Sprayed and breathed in heavily. Now I flat iron or let it dry natural. I don't use any product in my hair because I have a bad habit of twirling my fingers in my hair and then without realizing it, I put my nails/fingers in my mouth. I also lick my lips a lot so I have to be careful what I touch and if I touch my lips! It's a real self examiner when your finding the source of being glutened. As I realized, it's me hurting myself with my nervous habits. I'm still very new to all of this and have a lot to learn as well.
