Main Symptoms:

- Stomach cramps

- Diarrhoea

- Tonsil and lymph node swelling

- Bloating, distended stomach

- Feeling sick

- Depression and mood instability

I didn't know what Coeliac meant until one of my bosses suggested it was a possible problem. Her better half was also a Coeliac, among his many other allergies, and she was pretty sure she recognised my symptoms from when he accidentally ate the stuff.

A few weeks on I feel much better, but still a way to go.

Because this is new to both me and my family, none of us are really sure what I should (and more importantly, shouldn't) be eating. Almost all of us are now avid ingredients checkers and mildly obsessed with cleaning the kitchen counters down, but they dont mind most of the time now I'm so much more easy to deal with.

I'm still battling a few family member's views that my allergies are not attention seeking, but more at the forefront now is managing to stay gluten free when I am out of the house for up to ten hours a day and still trying to eat lunch.

I'm essentially a work in progress. Wish me luck. xx

  1. My periods were always irregular and very heavy, lasting at least seven days, until I went on the pill.
