    4. Lalama added a post in a topic How Did Your Dh Start?

My Dh started on the backs of my elbows and was intially diagnosed as ring worm. (Ironically this rash started about a month after having my appendix out). After about 9 months the elbows cleared up-after being treated with all sorts of creams. Then a few months after that I got these lesions on my chin, which the dermatolgist called perioral dermititis. After I did some research I tried a gluten free diet and after about two months it cleared up. My skin was the clear, but I got glutened last week and also had a a bag of salty pretzels and now have that same nasty dh breakout on my chin in the same area. Very discouraging The worst part is the long wait for it to clear up. I am debating whether to treat it with dapsone or just wait it out...?

I can completely relate. I had never made the connection but when I was young my mom brought me to many doctors to figure out why I was so exhausted all the time and no one had an answer. The worst would be after eating a bowl of cereal I would get in the car to do my commute and within minutes I was slapping my face to keep my eyes open. I would have to pull over because it was that bad. Trying to get through the school day was a task because the tiredness and brain fog kept me from retaining anything the professor said. That is how I know I've eaten gluten...I litteraly can't stay awake. I am so blessed to have energy and clear thinking again! Hoping your dad gives it a shot!

    6. Lalama added a post in a topic Constipation And Stomach Pain. Immediate And Long Term Relief?

No, I have not yet tried it yet. But I read the book Fiber Menace and it definitly has me thinking of trying it out. I only say that because every doctor always says eat more fiber, drink more water and exercise more. Well I drink half a gallon of water a day eat plenty of fiber and exercise and only makes me bloated and nauseous. Anything I use to help move things along gave me spasms in my stomach. I am currently trying a herbal supplement the naturopathic doctor put me on but if that doesn't work-I am definitly going to try this product out.

I am sorry you are going through all this. Constipation is the worse
I have had my share of issues. I don't know if it's coincidence or not but I had heard a lot of good reviews about the supplement program by the doctor in the link below...talks about how too much fiber can actually be a bad thing in the long run for constipation. I just started reading the book and have not yet tried the product but am considering it. Here is the site if you want to check it out.

Just reading all these posts about C. I have been having this issue for the last two months. And with it-my periods have been extremely painful. My naturopathic doctor put me on these physilium husks capsules (which also have some other natural ingredients) and I have been taking them for about 6 weeks now. They helped me to go-but I was having D instead of a normal bm-and felt kind of bloated from them. But I have been doing a lot of research and I don't think it's good to take them for as long as I have been. Not sure if that's the case? But since stopping them I am now feeling backed up again and really bloated. Very frustrating...

You made some good points-thanks! The outbreak this time was on the bottom of my chin, and not on other places where my face gets more sun. So maybe something else is to blame? I guess I'll know for sure this summer-definitly going to wear a hat though!

      Dh And Sun
Ok, so I was doing really well with the dh thing and it seemed like it was mostly going away. Then this week it was really nice out, so I went for a short walk each day. This morning I noticed all these little dh blisters on my chin area. I didn't think the sun would cause such a strong reaction...unless it's from somthing else. This is really frustrating ecspecially because I am working at an outdoor camp this summer. And, whenever I wear sunblock it makes the rash worse, not sure what to do besides wear a hat and grin and bear it Feeling really discouraged right now...

      Calcium Supplements
Does anyone know of good gluten free casein free calcium supplements that don't upset the stomach? Or do you think drinking a couple of glasses of fortified almond milk will be sufficient?

I noticed that the bottoms of my top front teeth are loosing some of their white and are beginning to look translucent at the bottom of them. They also feel a bit thinner. I think it may be from lack of calcium but I'm not sure? Any thoughts?

Gemini-Totally agree with you here. This gluten/dairy free diet has actually been a blessing in disguise for me. I was one of those people who talked a lot about food-ecspecially after getting married. I begin to cook and bake like crazy and was always engaging in coversation about food. I put on almost 15 pounds in my two years of marriage(and I am very petite). Since going gluten free and having many food restrictions it was like having to rewire my thought patterns about food. It wasn't until then, that I realized how much I idolized food. I am still a work in progress...but my diet and my thoughts are much healthier these days

    14. Lalama added a post in a topic Sleep Apnea After Being Gluttened

Welcome to the forum Kre8sioN! It is definitly scary when you stop breathing-ecspecially with your heart racing! When you said weird twitch are you referring to not being able to breath or something else?

I haven't really exeprienced a racing heart before but I have heard other people who experience that on this forum. After I went gluten free for about 3 months I accidentally got glutened through communion bread at church. That night, every time I tried to fall asleep-I woke up gasping for air. I didn't pick up on the trend until being gluttened another two times. Each time I kept waking up gasping for air the very same night I was glutened. Then a light bulb went on and I did some researrch and found it could very well be connected.I know gluten is not always the cause of sleep apnea but I believe it is in my case since I don't have a problem when I am gluten free.

    15. Lalama added a post in a topic Detox Fasting /probiotics

A couple of months ago I did a three week detox with my nutrionist and had only been gluten free for two months at the time. She had me take this paleomeal protein powder (there is a dairy free and whey version-both are gluten free)from I took one in the morning and one at supper and it filled me up but was easily digestable as it had enzymes in it and helped with my energy levels. I would have some steamed veggies for lunch and green broth just like your describing, as often as I wanted. I was allowed a serving of berries or a spoonful of almond butter or sunflowerbutter as a snack. I would check in with your doctor just to make sure you're getting sufficient vitamin intake as well-this is important when your body is detoxing. It can be very draining otherwise. Not sure if that helps at all...
