  1. My appt. in Rochester is not until the end of Oct so I have time to give the low-iodine diet.I have a question for you. Should I be seeing a derm.or a different specialist? Oh and you mention having DH behind you ears. When I very young, say 5,6, maybe even 7 (i just remember I was in school ), it could have even been earlier . I had something on the back of my ears. I remember it was as if someone took a knife and slit the skin open from the top of my ear to the bottom. I remember it hurt so much. I don't remember at what age the dermatitis (?) when into my ears. but I was probably 12. I need some advice BOTH my daughters are itching their scalp :1 w/celiac disease one NOT ( she has had a celiac disease blood work.) Both girls see the same GI doc. He did NOT perform the endo the confirmed celiac disease. I don't what to do. What would you do?
  2. Do you ever eat out? I ask this as now I think I am scared to even try to go out with my family. What brands of shampoo are you using? I have looked at the ingredients, and have looked up on-line gluten-free hair products. The ones I use don't appear to have gluten containing ingredients. I also was concerned with my shampoo and conditioner. but I think what I am using is OK. One of my big concerns is pet foods and treats. I looked at the dog bones my husband bought and oticed the first ingredient is wheat. so now I told him we need to buy gloves so my daughter and I can feed the dog. I don't know if you have pets but if you do ( or anyone who reads this) what brands of pet food and treats do you use? and don't see
  3. PHEW!!! That is a lot. But thank you. It is better to have more avenues to explore and then see if they are possible culprits. I like having more info than not having any where to look. Again a big thank you for all the advice. One more question for you. I think you are so right when it comes to having even one bite. I should know better but sometimes I just seem to not be able to control myself. I thought that it was OK but now with all this happening I realize that I can't have a moment of weakness. Thanks for the wake up call.
  4. Thanks for responding. RDB Phew long name but I love it !!. The symptoms you mention is what I have been experiencing. but my soars are on the I have been using Finesse S & C, Vo5, or Baby Shampoo. I have been using gluten-free dish soap, Baby Wash or Dove soap. I stopped all other hair products around the 1st of July. What hair care products do you use? What about dish soaps?
  5. I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer for, or it just be I am just not looking in the wrong place. In May 2011 I was diagnosed with IBS after blood work and Endo came back neg. for Celiac. So I went on a gluten free diet, I will admit that about once a month I did have gluten. At that point I had my IBS under excellent control. However just this June (the end of June) I developed uncontrollable itching on my scalp ( it never stops itching) as well as on my face, arms, and sometimes on my legs. On the back of my neck I noticed and tiny pimple like bumps which go down to my shoulders. My dermatologist has taken biopsy's and I'm waiting for the results (the Derm. suggested it may be DH). My question is with DH if you have a breakouts say on the back of your neck which is where my break out is and my scalp WON"T stop itching (with NO breakout) could this itching be a symptom of DH or something different. I just CAN'T STOP ITCHING AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.I have been awake since 4 am with the itching UGH!!!!!
  6. New Question About Dh Diagnosis

I have a question for everyone. I really feel like I am about to GO OUT OF MY MIND so if you can please HELP I would appreciate it. a little back story first I have been gluten-free since Jan of last year when my Daughter was Dx with celiac disease (she had a endo). I had been having GI issues for about 2 months prior to her Dx so it wasn't a hard choice to make. I also wanted to support her as she is only 7. Then in May of 2011 I was Dx with IBS.(had a Endo in May which was neg for celiac disease) I have a 3 yr old daughter. The whole family has had blood tests for celiac disease and they were all NEG. The middle of June my youngest daughter started itching her head and developed a rash on the back of her neck. The end of June I started having SEVER itching on my head accompanied by a rash on the back of my neck which spread to my shoulder blades. The beginning of July my 7yr old developed the itching and rash at her hairline. I have just had 2 biopsy for DH. The derm. I went to said they see a lot of DH patients and what I have "looks" like DH. I am pretty sure that if my tests come back pos. then the girls have the same DH. Do you think that would be the wisest assumption? Also since my 7 yr old already has confirmed celiac disease and I have her on a gluten-free diet what else should I look for as a culprit?
  7. No they didn't do any Gen. testing on any of the fam. We have all had blood tests and they ALL were negative. The funny thing is that my dd who was Dx with celiac disease had a Endo BEFORE the blood work. The Endo was pos. and we were surprised to find the blood work was NEG.
  8. A BIG THANK YOU for responding so quick.I have had eczema (in my ears) for over 40 YEARS and have had NO relief. My celiac disease daughter had problems when we started solids but it seemed to subside after taking her off rice cereal. My biopsy was taken on a spot AND a clear area. My youngest is not on a gluten-free diet. I haven't used anything new, in terms of shampoo's conditioner, or any type of soap. We haven't even tried a new food. I am a creature of habit and once I find a product the kids will eat then I don't change. Sad to say but I have not checked to see if any of our products formulas have changed . I use baby shampoo and soap on the girls and dove for myself and sometimes the girls.I have used the same products all along but I have read that companies do change their ingredient from time to time. I will do that TODAY. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried taking pictures but with my dig. camera they are too bright and you can't see the rash. I am going to try again when my H gets home.
  9. Hi everyone :-> It has been a long time since I posted anything and I am VERY stumped. I need some MAJOR advice here. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. My 7 yr old daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease in Jan of 2011. The house has been gluten-free since her Dx. I was Dx in May 2011 with IBS. She has been doing really good. with the gluten-free change. There has been a couple of set backs but we have learned how to get through them. NOW I have come across something I don't know what to do. In June my youngest daughter developed "bumps" on the back of her neck along with a very itchy scalp ( no bumps just itching. Then I developed the same itchy scalp with bumps on back of neck down to my shoulder blades. I also have itching all over my arms and face. Then by the end of June my other daughter (she has confirmed celiac disease) also developed the same itching and a few bumps on the back of her neck. It is not Lice or Scabies and the pediatrician had not suggestions other than she wasn't sure what it was and we should see a dermatologist. I did look at the photos of DH and what I have looks like some of the photo's. I went to a Dermatologist. She took a Biopsy of two spots. She also said that they see a lot of DH and it looks very similar. My question for everyone here what to do about my girls? Could we all develop DH around the same time? My husband doesn't have any of our symptoms so I don't believe it is am allergic reaction to anything. I just am so stumped. ANy advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
  10. Hello mikyraso, Ive been reading an old post about the abdominal pain you were experiencing at night time.

My daughter has recently been diagnosed as Celiac and is suffering with the same pain at night. Did you ever find out how to control this? She is already on the diet and was ok for a few months but recently had a stomach bug and is up every night again.

Any advice you can give p...

  11. I thought I had read the ONLY way to wash gluten away was Soap and Water. I was under the impression that hand sanitizers and wipes didn't remove ANY gluten from hands but as you mention "move it around." Correct me if I am wrong but I have pretty strict on the washing with SOAP and Water ONLY. If these others work then I will be all over that. My DD DOESN"T like to wash so it has been a struggle and anything I can do to keep her safe I want to know about.
  12. Night-time Abdominal Pain

Hi EJR- I have only had the blood testing done thus far and it was neg. But my 6yr old DD had Biopsy and bloodwork done and her bloodwork was neg. as well. So I don't have a formal diagnosis. However my night time symptoms are keeping me up most nights until 2am. My symptoms are nausea, my stomach feels like it just won't stop churning and popping and cramping, and then I also become very gassy. I did just get a prescription for something to help with the upset stomach but I am not we'll see. It seemed to help last night. .
  13. My Mother In Law Is Making Me Nuts

I was telling my husband this very thing after I told him about some of the GREAT feedback here. I told him we can't let he stay alone with her. He was TOTALLY on board with that. I told him that if she wants to have her visit then I have to go with her and prepare all the meals for my DD. I can't trust her and I won't let her damage my DD. I need some help. I have a question. Does anyone have a Gluten free list from Aldi's? I have read the labels of the products and there is never a phone number to call and couldn't find and gluten-free info on the website. I am interested in finding out about the Fit and Active Brand. Any advice?
  14. I hear you. I am sick and tired of all these wonderful gluten-free foods not only being 3x's the price but half the size, UGH !!!!.I am also SICK and oh so TIRED of keeping a food journal and trying to figure out which of the supposed Gluten-free foods my beautiful DD .has consumed is making her belly sound like she has fireworks exploding and snarling monster inside her ready to attack. I am also SICK and TIRED of feeling like I am LOOSING my MIND because every night my DD is complaining her TUMMY hurts REALLY bad AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO TO HELP HER PAIN GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If anyone has a suggestion for easing tummy troubles PLEASE SHARE.I NEED HELP!!!!! We went away to Hershey this past Saturday. They said they had gluten free: hot dogs , chips, Popsicle, and pickles, and drinks. Then we went to our friends house over night and had breakfast. She made scram eggs, Oscar Myer bacon, fresh fruit, and OJ. Oh we went to WEndy's 2x's and had the Chili and Choc. Frosty. Breakfast I thought we were careful but when we cam home Sunday night she said her tummy hurt and then again tonight. I just don't know if this was from this trip. Her tummy pain is happening so often anymore I am just loosing my mind tryin to figure out when or what was the culprit. One good thing Ithat has come out of this I don't have as much time to think about my own digestive trouble when my DD is having her own.
