      Craft Foam Shapes
      Hi there,
My dd's class is doing several foam craft kits from Oriental Trading Company. I was wondering anyone knows if the adhesive on the craft foam shapes are gluten-free.

Also, they are doing some crafts with non-sticky craft shapes and for those items they are using SmArt Foam, Foam Glue from Creative Hands. I've contacted the company but I haven't found out the gluten status if the glue yet either.

      Thanks so much!

We're interested in going on a cruise but it also depends on the depends on where the cruise port is. We're going to be cruising on RCCL out of FL this fall beacuse there's a big price difference. I'll be sure and post how our trip goes.

You have no idea how much you've helped. I've been dying to talk first hand with someone's who's been with children. I'm getting really excited after reading your posts!!

Our TA sent our gluten free request so I'm hoping they will have our information when we get there. I ended up faxing it again this week to be on the safe side. Did you pack the snacks in your checked luggage or your carry on?

We're doing Eastern on the Mariner and then the Western. I tried to do some searches on gluten free restaurants but couldn't find any. Do you have any recommendations? I thought about getting some dining cards to take with us.

I'm so glad to hear that your children loved AO. My dd will be in the younger group. I thought I would go the first day and explain our situation. From what I've read the children don't actually eat in the AO rooms? I was hoping that some of the activities would be safe for her to enjoy. The only thing on the AO fact sheet for her group that she wouldn't be able to do were playdough sculptures. From what I could tell at first glance, other things looked OK.

I'm Celiac as well and my husband also eats gluten-free. This is great news about the drinks. What did you try?

      Thanks again!

I'm so glad that gluten-free bread can be requested at other meals. My dd should be content, she loves bread!
This is her first cruise and she has celiac disease as well. I'm concerned about the ports to. I think we may do beach days at most of the ports, plus it should save some $$. I can just see us sick on a bus traveling around Mexico with no bathroom in sight. Much less no food. Did you go back to the ship to eat? I was thinking that's what we'd need to do in Coco Cay and Labadee.

It seems like our dd likes to snack a lot! I was hoping to find some fresh, whole fruit like apples etc. I'm always scared about buffets. Did you find that most of the drinks were safe, juice, tea, etc?

Did your children participate in the Adventure Ocean program?

Also , did you take some non-perishables with you?

Thanks again for the information. This is our first big trip since diag. so I'm just a tad nervous.

We're going on Royal Carribean this fall and we haven't cruised since DX. I'm so glad to hear that you did well. Did you pre-order breakfast and lunch as well as dinner?

Anyone other tips on food would be great!

Sounds great! We're going on a Sunday evening and just staying one night so I should be in great shape. We're not too far from Asheville and I'd love to take another quick trip back to Asheville. We have'nt been there in a couple of years and I've heard they have another health food store or two. I'd really like to go to the Biltmore and I'll definately check out the rest. you mentioned.

      Thanks again!

      moving on,
Thanks so much for your help! I tried contacting them but I haven't gotten a response yet. I didn't realize there was a Wendy's in the area.

Breakfast does seem like the biggest challenge when traveling, doesn't it? I think bringing some fruit, bars and Kinnikinnick dounuts should work great. I'm glad to know there's a refrigerator!

The boiled shrimp and ribeye sound wonderful! Did you make reservations at the steak house? Also what kind of dining cards do you use?

My dh had mentioned eating at Bonefish or P.F. Chang's in Knoxville on our way to Harrah's. We'll be celebrating our anniversary as well! We're looking forward to a mini-getaway.

The truffles sound wonderful! Is there only one type, will I know what to look for?

      Thanks again!

      This is the auto-response.....

I have a relative that just got back from RCCL and they were extremlly accomadating with her gluten-free diet. From what I can tell the fruits station is seperate in the buffet area from the breads etc. I don't know if you've tried any of the Annie's gluten-free dressings but some of them you can get in individual packets.

Let me know if you have any questions.

      Happy Cruising!!

Uh-no! I've been using the BE for many years and the last couple of months I've used the BE Big-Tease and I didn't realize it wasn't gluten free. Thanks for the info.

I've just started using some BeautiControl products. They maintain a gluten free product list as well.

We have Season passes to Dollywood and take day trips to the area. We usually pack our food for the day but there is an Outback there.

I haven't been to this store but I did a search on co-op's and found this grocery store in Gatlinburg. You might contact them to see what they have available. Who knows maybe they can order things for you.

I also noticed a store called EVERYTHING NATURAL HEALTH FOOD in Sevierville. I don't know anything about this store either but it might be worth a shot.

If you travel by way of Knoxville to Gatlinburg, they are several stores in that area and resturants including, PF Chang's, Outback and Bonefish Grill.

Hope you have a great trip!

We're booked on royal carb. in Sept. I have to admit, I'm a little nervous to. We were cruisers prior to celiac disease as well. My travel agent requested the gluten-free diet for us and we got a automated reply about what foods to bring. Let me know if you want me to send it to you.

Are you a Crown & Anchor member? You can go to the the C & A section of the website and it allows you to enter your personal preferences and one of the options is a gluten-free diet. I'm planning on faxing my request personally, a few weeks before we go. One lady I talked with said the fresh fruits at the Windjammer buffet are in a seperate from the breads etc. I was thinking at the very least we can snack on fruit in between meals. The last I heard, the ice cream machines in the buffet area were also gluten-free. But I'm sure that could change depending on suppliers.

I have a friend who is also Celiac who's sailing this week with Royal Carb. I'll let you know how it goes. I have heard that royal caribbean is really good with the gluten-free diet as well. I'm so excited about not having to cook!

Also, if you don't mind, let me know if you find out any more information.

natalunia, Sounds great! Please do let us know.

    15. Kasey'sMom added a post in a topic Diaper Rash

      Hi Beverly,
The first symptoms we saw with my dd was the re-occurant diaper rash. The rash worsened when she was 2 1/2. We took her to 3 dermatologist including a ped. derma Dr. She was on numerious steroid creams and anti-fungals. We also did the candida diet for awhile. Unfortunatly, the creams would ease the pain for a couple of days and then the rash would return worse than ever. She also continued to have cradle cap and now has psoriasis on her scalp.

I did keeep a journal on what she ate each day. I also put any changes in tempermant, weather, location, and symptoms etc. The journal was insturmental in our many Dr. appointments and investigating the cause of the rash. We did noticed her symptoms got much worse when she ate wheat. After she tested neg. for IgE wheat allergy, her allergist recommended we test for celiac disease. I have a distant relative that has celiac disease and that also sent up a red flag. While my dd does have digestive symptoms, reflux, tempermant changes and other classic celiac disease symptoms....the first thing we noticed was the diaper rash. The rash was very painful and it was especially difficult with potty training. Now that she's been gluten-free for almost a year the rash is so much better. She does have other food allergies and suffers with eczema. However, gluten was the biggest culprit.

Since my dd was tested I got tested several months later. My dd only had high antibody levels. But, I ended up testing positive with EMA and Ttg. I've have had classic symptoms since I was a child. I also started getting a few blisters on my hands over the last year. I got them on my fingers and they we're painful to touch and would sometimes itch. As long as I'm not accidently glutend I don't have them.

I'll say a prayer that you folks can find out what's causing her pain. Feel free to PM me anytime.
