  1. I am trying to find a good multivitamin and purchased Whole Foods Womens Food Based Multivitamin. The label states "Good manufacturing practices used to segregate in a facility that also processes wheat etc." I have celiac and am always careful about trace glutens so I am wondering do others feel comfortable with this label or have people had issues and steer clear of these products? Thanks!
  2. Does anyone know if VSL #3 is gluten free? From the information I have found online, it looks like the unflavored version is but I cannot find a definite answer. I was going to call the company as well but wanted to see if anyone had any information. If anyone has taken it also, was it helpful? thanks!
  3. This is actually a question for a friend of mine who may have Celiac. She got her genetic test results back today but will not see a dr to go over them for another week. The results were: DQ2 negative and DQ8 positive, genetic risk 1:89 (moderate). Does anyone know what this means and if she may have the gene? Thanks so much!
  4. Chik Fil A

Does any one know if the Polynesian sauce is gluten free? Chick-fil-a has it listed as gluten free on their website bu the ingredient list says it contains "natural flavors". Anyone had any problems with it? I eat the fries all the time with no problems and ask for the nugget meals with my nuggets grilled and have had no problems.
  5. Thank you both for your responses. I just realized I posted this in the wrong category. The pain in my left side started about 2 weeks ago--about the time I began the h. pylori treatment. I am supposed to take the supplement for 4 weeks so I am wondering why I have the pain now and not before I began treatment. I also started take L. gluatamine around the same time. Are/were either of your pains painful to the touch?
  6. I was diagnosed with h. pylori a few weeks ago. My naturopathic dr. put me on a supplement called pylorocid with zinc, mastic gum extract, berberine sulfate hydrate, and bismuth citrate. I have been taking it for 2 weeks. From reading some other post it seems like I should be taking an antibiotic to get rid of it although I know she wants to take a natural approach. Has anyone used a supplement like this? I am also have a persisent pain (worse when seated) slightly to the left of my breast bone, along my lower left rib cage. It is painful to the touch. Could this be my stomach causing this pain? and could it be related to the h. pylori or ulcers? Thanks so much!
  7. Does anyone know of a gastroenterologist in the Raleigh, NC area that specializes in celiac disease or is knowledgable? Thanks so much!!
  8. I have celiac and was also recently diagnosed with pernicious anemia. My doctor has recommended 10mg B12 injections 4 times a week for a few weeks. I guess this would be considered a "loading dose" and then we would decrease the number of injections to maintain levels. This dosage seems really high to me--what is normal for a B12 deficiency? What are other people's experiences with 1)dosage 2)frequency of dosages and 3)results after receiving the injections--how long did it take for you to feel better as it is relates to depression/anxiety, fatique etc. Thanks for your help!
  9. I have recently been diagnosed with celiac disease and have a question about food labels. Do companies have to specify whether or not a product is produced in a facility that also processes wheat? For example, I was looking at canned tomatoes tonight at Whole Foods. The Whole Foods brand specificies that their tomatoes are produced in a facility that also process wheat etc. but another brand I looked at does not specify either way. Does this mean they were produced in a gluten free facility or the company is just not putting a warning on their product? I just can't imagine that basic things like canned tomatoes etc. are something I have to worry about!! Any help is greatly appreciated!
  10. Hi Erin, We are in the same boat. I was diagnosed 6 weeks ago--i just joined this forum yesterday. It has been a difficult 6 weeks but I will say that I am VERY slowly feeling better every day. I think that it gets easier once you get a hang of the gluten free diet and I dont expect to have it mastered for many more months/year. The depression/anxiety is still terrible though. I want to be back to my old self too and feel sorry that I am so depressed/anxious around my husband and I have no energy for my 18-monht old daughter. I had a little bit of anxiety/depression before my diagnosis but it has gotten worse. I am taking some natural supplements/amino acids (GABA, Stabilium, and a supplement called Calmatrine) to help with that. I also went ahead and did the stool sample test by Enterolab to determine if I have any parasites etc and if I am also allergic to soy, dairy and eggs. I am willing to do whatever I have to to feel better so I wanted to know what else is going on so I can start feeling better. Are you taking sublingual B-12 supplements? That may help with your depression also. Other people say it will probably take at least a year to feel better so I am trying to be patient but it is difficult. Good luck to you
  11. I was diagnosed with celiac disease 6 weeks ago. This is my first time posting and I am so glad to have found this support group! I have been gluten free for 6 weeks. I have tried to be very careful but I know I have made mistakes since it is a learning process and my husband and daughter do not eat gluten free. I am wondering what other people's experiences with anxiety have been. It has been awful and does not seem to be getting any better. I do not have anything in particular to be anxious about but I wake up in a panic and my heart starts racing and continues to do so for most of the day. I had some anxiety/depression leading up to my diagnosis but it seems to have gotten worse after going gluten free. I also think that months of strange, scary symptoms (started having symptoms in Jan 2011) have contributed to my anxiety b/c I am so worried about my health and generally do not feel well. I also have Hashimoto's and I am taking Armour. I am taking lots of supplements--Vit D, sublingual B-12, fish oil along with multivitamins and also Stabilium and GABA to help with the anxiety. I really do not want to have to take anti-anxiety meds. Has anyone else taken GABA or Stabilium or other natural supplements to help with mental issues? Could this anxiety be a result of CC now that my body is more sensitive to gluten? I know that everyone's recovery process is different but how long will these mental issues last?
