The bowel movement is exactly how my daughters were before we figured out she had Celiac Disease. It looked like green slimy cottage cheese and smelled like sauerkraut. I don't know if it was the cheese but reading the labels is the best way to find out. I know sometimes this isn't very clear as "flavoring" can contain gluten. Good luck. My little girl is 11 months old today and has only had episode of vomiting since I and she have been gluten free. No more awful diapers either.

Yes I am gluten because I am nursing. We are planning on having a gluten free household soon but we can't afford to throw away what we already had prior to the diagnosis. Thank you for the well wishes:)

I never eat out now. I live in a small town that I know doesn't provide gluten free preparation of food. I did get a coke at Sonic one day. I do worry about the cross contamination with her at daycare but they have assured me that they are careful. I feel like its something at home that I'm missing.

I can't think of anything new and because she was symptom free for so long (1 month) I stopped journaling everything I ate. She did get her immunizations but they told me that there wasn't gluten in them. My oldest still eats gluten along with my husband and they wash their hands and brush their teeth before they touch her but I was wondering if trace amounts of gluten can cause such a severe reaction. I am so glad to have people to talk to. This is the scariest thing I have ever had to deal with because its my baby:(.

      Symptoms Are Back
After being Gluten free for over a month now I thought that my daugther has been symptom free. All of a sudden she started vomiting today. She is only 8 months old only eats gluten thru my breast milk. I did notice the rash start to appear about two days ago but because it was in a different location this time I was hoping that it was not the Celiac. I need some advice and someone to tell me it will be ok. I feel like this is all my fault and I can't fix it. She is still smaller than she was 3 months ago when this all began. Any advice and support we will gladly accept.

This is very helpful. With my 8 month old recently diagnosed only thru the blood test; we have had AMAZING results by eliminating gluten. I am nursing which is pretty much the only way she gets the gluten and though its been hard to resist bread (good bread that is:)) and it is much more expensive she is so much better now. We spent weeks in the childrens hospital only to leave with a scar from an unnesscary surgery and still scratching our heads:(. I can't even explain the vomiting episodes she was having that seemed so random. I have been researching as much as I can and I am so glad to know there are people and answers here!! Thanks

      Breastfed Infant With Celiac
My daughter is now 7 months old but we started having unexplained (at the time) problems around 5 months of age. Out of the blue she started projectile vomiting and her white blood cell count was extremely high (20000-37000). On occasion she would have diarrhea with it. We were admitted overnight once and made numerous trips to the ER. We also spent almost 2 weeks in the childrens hospital where they performed surgery for a mild malrotation of her bowel to attempt to correct the vomiting. She has had several X-Rays,Upper GIs and small bowel studies and NO ONE could figure out what was going on. Finally her pediatrian who is just a PA mentioned Celiac disease. I got online and she had all of the symptoms: rash on her lower back/buttock, projectile vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained weight loss, skin color change, etc. We finally had a celiac panel done and her Total IGa was 88. We are now being refered to a different childrens hospital for the biopsy of her small intestine to confirm. She is breastfed full time and has eats baby food (veggies) which we stopped for a while because we didn't know if that was making her sick. Since I have cut gluten out of my diet going on 1.5 weeks she is now having solid bowel movements. Tho she has gone 2 weeks without an episode prior to gluten free she has more energy. I am so glad to have an answer now. From what I read gluten isn't good for you anyway. I still need some help with recipes and good gluten-free products. I hope this post will help someone else.
