  1. I've been gluten-free for a few months. I've noticed that my eczema hasn't really improved much - if anything, it's gotten worse in some areas. I've been using gluten-free products that come in contact with my hands and mouth (like hand cream, chapstick, etc.) but haven't paid a huge amount of attention to body wash, shampoo, conditioner or other hair products. So, I want to try gluten-free products to see if it makes a difference. I've been able to find gluten-free hair products but a lot of them have ingredients I can't or won't use in it. I'm allergic to nut oils as well as sesame oil, and I prefer to not use products with benzyl alcohol in it (had an allergic reaction to it in IV medication; unsure of what it does to my skin.) Does anyone have suggestions of brands? I've been using Pantene and Biolage mostly. Thanks in advance.
  2. I've had chronic sinusitis due to seasonal, food, and environmental allergies. I've also had two sinus surgeries (but they were five years apart). I've heard of people whose sinuses and allergies improve on the gluten free diet, but so far I've noticed no difference. I've i've been gluten free for a little over two months though, and this time of year is the worst for me, when it comes to seasonal allergies.

  4. also, what you posted is only the active ingredient. It has inactive ingredients not listed on their website which I have at home on the box.
  5. That's what I've done - I have no problem paying extra I was just wondering if it was gluten that was causing the problems I was having, or something else and thought someone here might know since CVS themselves apparently do not.

  7. Did you have more energy? No, actually. Less. Did you lose/gain weight? I've stayed mostly consistent, if anything lost a couple pounds. Mostly, I FEEL like I lost weight because I don't have constant bloating and constipation anymore! Healthier skin/hair No. More regular bowel movements YES!!!! It has virtually eliminated bloating and stomach pain. I am now able to go to the bathroom regularly. The changes didn't start to be consistent until about 5 weeks in but immediately, I stopped waking up in the middle of the night with awful stomach pain. I have less energy before but I suspect that is because I eat less in general. I also have ridges in my nails, but I started taking a multivitamin because it might be nutritional deficiencies causing that. I've only been gluten-free for about two months now.
  8. I have been trying to get in touch with CVS about whether this product is gluten-free. They've been going back and forth through me with email, but this has been going on for four weeks, and they've still yet to give me a straight answer. I used to take it all the time before going gluten-free, but since going gluten-free, whenever I take it, I get SERIOUS serious heartburn which had never happened before. Obviously I've stopped taking it but I would like to know if it's gluten that's causing the problem or something else. Does anyone else know if these contain gluten? The brand name (Benadryl) says none of their products contain gluten, but I know generics don't always use the same ingredients.... Thanks.
  9. I'll avoid plastic from now on. We do have a cutting board but I don't use it anymore (and to be honest, I don't think anything except vegetables were ever cut on there). I doubt the dishwasher has ever been cleaned
  10. Hmm...mostly plastic, except for silverware.
  11. I don't actually use the strainer either. For example - my boyfriend will cook pasta in a pot. It will then go into a dishwasher and then I'll use it to make my own chili or something. It's not one of those non-stick pots either, that gets scratched easily. It's stainless steel. I haven't been using any of the ones that scratch because I'm nervous about CC.
  12. I do tend to avoid processed foods in general, even before going gluten free.. Rice chex (generic or brand) have been the one exception. I'll cut them out for now, and I'm going to avoid restaurants completely for a while. I don't even use a toaster! (But I do use the same pots that regular pasta has been boiled in. I'm not sure if that could be an issue if the pots go in the dishwasher first?)
  13. I have only stopped consuming gluten a little over a month ago. Is it too soon to tell when you've accidentally consumed gluten? I have been very diligent about my own foods, medications, beauty products, etc. I do eat generic rice chex - and I've read that some people have problems with Rice Chex in general. This weekend, I bought the real Rice Chex because it was on sale. Immediately after eating it, I was sick: cramping, stomach issues, but also I felt almost drugged, like I couldn't keep my eyes open. I also had a return of some symptoms that had improved: I had a restless sleep, I woke up itching off and on all night (eczema), I had vivid dreams... and when I woke up, I just felt very foggy. I also had this experience after eating out. It was at Red Robin who told me they had a dedicated fryer for their french fries, and that burgers were prepared in a separate area than buns, etc. All I ate was a burger with pepper jack cheese, no bun ... and french fries. I barely made it home before I was sick (GI again), and had the same symptoms as mentioned before. I've had other stomach-aches since going gluten-free, but nothing with all these other symptoms. Is there anything else that could cause those weird symptoms?
  14. I really sympathize with you. I also have multiple food allergies (but have had them almost my entire life): shellfish, peanuts, most tree nuts and sesame. If you have a true allergy to those foods, it's super important that you avoid them as each time you consume them, your allergic reaction could get progressively worse and could ultimately result in anaphylaxis. I don't have a lot of advice as your allergies are more varied than mine but I hope you find some relief. Have you met with a dietitian or nutritionist to help come up with a plan of what to eat?
  15. I often get back pain when I have bad stomach pain. I don't really know why, but it does happen.
