  1. Hi I've been posting a lot of topics lately because it seems like everyone here knows so much it's awesome! Anyway I'm considering taking an elemental diet for sibo and I'm not sure if many people would know about it, but can it be bad for leaky gut? I can become intolerant to anything I consume too much so am I able to become intolerant to these too or does this not happen since they are made for gastrointestinal problems and are predigested? Thanks a lot!

  3. Thanks guys, I'm hoping I will heal if I get an antibiotic but I'm now scared I may have SIBO or something... I haven't been treated yet because my doctor has been on holiday since Christmas eve and is only going to be back on monday so I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens
  4. Hi I went gluten intolerant about 5 months ago and started developing problems again with more food which I have been treating as a leaky gut. I went to the docs about two weeks ago to see if there's anything else going on and i got a stool test done and apparently I have salmonella. It's weird because the only time I can remember having really bad "D" or anything was a bit over a month ago when I tried a weight gainer protein shake and i didn't really have any other symptoms except abdo pain... My mum however was also having bad D at the same time but i didnt think it was related to mine because mine came very soon after i had the weight gainer Anyway since then I've been having problems with food intolerances (undigested food, C or D after eating something I'm intolerant to, never ending bloating - i haven't not been bloated for about 4 months - pain and fatigue) My symptoms go on and off i guess depending on what i eat but just recently I was having trouble having a bowel movement for a few days without my usual intolerance symptoms and now i have D. Could any of this be related to the salmonella? Can it last that long or cause some of these symptoms? Can it create too much bacteria in the gut which can lead to this kind of thing? When I have researched about it apparently it usually only lasts up to a week but it might take longer for the gut to heal completely Has anyone had any experience or know about this? I'd appreciate any info!
  5. Needing Help With A Rotation Diet

    Thanks a lot Stri8ed your advice helps a lot. I'm not sure if I would be having delayed reactions because every time i cut out the food that I ate right before the reaction happened I seem to get better even if everything else I'm eating is the same so it seems like my reactions are pretty instant. I am trying to do a rotation diet now, but I'm not having much success yet... I started the diet yesterday and didn't notice any stomach upsets, my stomach is always bloated but is slightly flatter if i don't eat anything bad so it was fine yesterday. But this morning i decided to eat just mango and grapes for breakfast and almost immediately my stomach got extremely swollen and full... I didn't feel like I was having any other digestive issues like I usually do when I discover a new intolerance, just really really bloated. I've been eating fruit throughout the week and haven't really noticed this happening and I haven't eaten mangos or grapes much at all so I don't think I would've become overexposed... I am just so confused with all of this I can't work it out. I am trying my best to not bother my stomach anymore, but the most random things cause problems it is so frustrating! I honestly can't believe how easy it used to be to eat food... Is being bloated from fruit a common thing or do I have another thing I need to avoid?
  6. Needing Help With A Rotation Diet

    Thanks a lot guys I really appreciate the help. I'm also avoiding lectins at the moment because most of the food I've become intolerant to have high amounts of lectins and I'm scared to try anything else that does! I'm finding it very difficult to find things to eat for breakfast and having to rotate is making it much harder... I can barely even think of one thing! Just wondering is it bad to eat things more than once in a day? Like can I eat chicken for lunch and dinner and then avoid it for the next few days and then eat it again or is that still too much? And is it possible to become intolerant of stuff like salt, pepper and oils? I use olive oil in almost everything but will I have to rotate that too? Sorry for all the questions I just really want to get better soon so I can have a normal life back and stop struggling with uni!! ><
  7. Hi I have been having symptoms of leaky gut for about 2 months now after getting better from a gluten free diet. Since it started I have switched to a whole foods diet and removed all dairy, corn, soy, eggs, rice, nightshades, nuts, legumes and grains and also coconuts, bananas and avocados. Since I have been trying to prevent weight loss while on this diet I had been eating A LOT of peanut butter, but then became intolerant to it after a while and decided to cut it out. I then switched to almond butter, but became intolerant to that too not long after. Because of this I decided to just cut out all nuts and legumes, but I'm wondering if that is necessary. If i have a reaction to almonds does that mean I'll have reactions to other nuts? Same with grains, I recently cut out white rice, so does that mean I should avoid all other grains like brown rice, quinoa amaranth etc. I'm just wondering because after 2 weeks of not eating banana after suspecting I was intolerant I decided to try eating one and got a pretty severe reaction, then the next day when I ate an avocado I had just as bad a reaction to that when I had been fine with them before. I'm pretty scared of experimenting with food that I'm not too sure of so I would just like some advice first from anyone who has any experience with this Also I'm just wondering is it possible to have leaky gut without anything else like parasites or candida? My symptoms aren't too severe I just have fatigue, pretty bad swelling in my stomach and increasing intolerances that make me feel very sick for a day or 2. My stomach pain and gas went away after I dropped corn and milk, but I know I haven't improved much because other intolerances keep popping up I would really appreciate any advice!
  8. Hi I'm just wondering about what happens when you get a new intolerance with leaky gut? Does it make your gut go back to how it was when you first got leaky gut or does it heal faster when you cut it out? I'm thinking about going on a rotation diet so this won't happen anymore, but I already have barely anything to eat. Also what supplements and digestive enzymes would help with leaky gut? Does L-Glutamine help a lot and are all brands safe or are there some that contain harmful ingredients?

    Thanks so much for the advice! I would definitely rather do this than keep blindly eliminating all my food until there's nothing left! haha Would it be better if I get this done through a GI doctor or someone other than my GP?
  10. Is there any way to do an elimination diet without losing too much weight? I lost a lot of weight before I realised I was gluten intolerant and 5 months later (even though my stomach had healed after 2 weeks of going gluten free) I am having digestive problems again and losing weight. So far I've only eliminated corn, dairy, soy, oats and gluten (including any cross contamination) and I'm still having problems and losing weight. I'm eating a lot of peanut butter, nuts, avocados, olive oil, eggs, rice, meat and potatoes, but it's not even helping me maintain my weight I'm worried that something I'm eating is still causing problems, but I'm very scared to cut anything else out and lose even more weight. I'm starting to feel like it's not worth trying to even figure out the problem if I'm going to keep losing weight... any suggestions?
  11. Hi Sorry to write such a long post, but I want to make my experience as detailed as possible so that it's easier to answer! I just wanted to ask a few questions about allergies and leaky gut. About 5 months ago I was having a lot of digestive problems, fatigue, depression a lot of weight loss (which is not a good thing for me because I was already quite skinny) and was eventually given a blood test for celiac which came back negative. I went on the gluten free diet anyway and most of my symptoms went away within about a week except for my stomach bloating and gas which lasted 2 weeks. During this time I had been eating lots of gluten free processed food, lactose free milk and going out for dinners and it was all perfectly fine so I was happy and started eating a lot and managed to gain back quite a bit of weight until I got glutened again while eating out. After this I stopped eating out as much and felt much worse than I did the first time I went off gluten, but after 2 weeks I was again completely better. Another week later I was back on my weight gaining regime and ended up getting glutened by putting my bread in the toaster that my parents use which I thought wouldn't happen since I do not have celiac disease, but regardless I have since completely avoided any form of cross contamination that I can think of. The problem is I haven't really healed this time and it's been over a month. Sometimes when I have eaten something that contained absolutely no gluten in it my stomach would just swell up 10x it's normal size (while it was already quite swollen) and I would get really bad stomach pains and other problems... I sort of figured out that it may have been corn since cornflour was often used in my meals when this would happen, but sometimes when I ate cornflour it didn't do this at all. After about a week of no corn (and pretty much no processed food at all) I didn't experience any pain but my stomach was still very distended. I decided to cut out dairy. I had been eating lactose free but not dairy free and thought maybe this was the solution to my problems. It's been almost a week and my stomach has not gone any flatter, but my fatigue, depression and insomnia has come back which I am thinking might be because of withdrawal from dairy? I am really hoping it isn't something else. A lot of my gas has gone away since cutting out dairy, but I still feel like there's something lingering in the background and the fact that I have barely any symptoms besides constant bloating makes it harder for me to determine what it could be. I have been eating a lot of rice, eggs, nuts and night shades (mostly potatoes and tomatoes) and am wondering if this could be the problem, but I'm so scared to cut anything else out because every day that I don't stuff my face with food I seem to lose almost a kilo (2 lbs?). I know a lot of people experience leaky gut and other allergies popping up, but I'm just wondering if it sounds like I could have one of these problems or are my symptoms too mild and I should just wait to see if it goes away before cutting anything else out of my diet? I know I haven't been dealing with this as long as a lot of people, but I'm just worried if I do nothing about it it'll get worse and if I do start cutting out food I may end up losing all the weight I gained back for nothing >< I am quite depressed at this point and could really use some advice...
