  1. Hi Cyclinglady, At age 70, I need lots of encouragement. Thanks.
  2.  For both dates,I used the same radiology service on a Hologic QDR 4500C bone denisitometer. My PCP ignored the results. I haven't hired a specialist yet.
  3.   Based on the information below, can anyone explain a 2.8% loss of bone density at the Fermoral Neck and 6.6% gain at the Lumber Spine after 2 years? I have Celiac and I'm stunned by the opposite! Treatment: Alendronate, 70 mg/week  between April 25, 2013 to May 3, 2014. Ended due to stomach pain. Project Healthy Bones Class: Feb. 24, 2014 to April 20, 2015. We focus on posture, balance, strength and flexibility. Supplements: Calcium and Vit. D, daily.                                                                                  Bone Density Results                                              T- Values      Site                               March, 2013                          April, 2015 Lumber Spine                           -2.7                                        -2.2                             L1-L4, Dx                         osteoporosis                              osteopenia Density, g/cm2                         0.797                                      0.850 Change, %                           ------------                                    +6.6 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Left Hip                                 -1.7                                          -1.7 Dx                                    osteopenia                                osteopenia Density, g/cm2                      0.773                                       0.776 Change, %                         ----------                                      +0.4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Femoral Neck                        -2.3                                           -2.5 Dx                                   osteopenia                               osteoporosis                   Density, g/cm2                     0.612                                           0.595 Change, %                        -----------                                        -2.8 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks!
  4. Finally, got a bone scan.   I was Dx'ed with osteoporous of the lumbar spine (T-2.7), osteopenia of the left hip (T-1.7) and Femoral Neck (T-2.3). Vit D was normal at 41.0 (range:30.0-100.0). The other bone nutrients calcium (serum=9.7) and albumin (serum=4.5) were normal. However, I still need to determine if an imbalance of phosphorous and PTH exist.   My PCP Rx'ed generic Fosamax, 70 mg, 1 tab/week. I opted to take Country Life's Calcium (1000mg)/Magnesium(500mg)/Phosphorus(500mg).  These Target-Mins are CGF. Also, to boost Vit D level, I'm taking 1000 IU, 1 tab/daily.   Only time will tell if this treatment improves T values for me.
  5.   Just to follow up. To date, my PCP (of 14 months) won't read this book.  He said it's not his job, has no interest or time in reading books on specific diseases and tells me to direct my questions regarding celiac/gluten issues to my GI Doctor.
  6. Digestive Enzymes

Cut back to 1/day with your heaviest meal.
  7. I don't have a nutritionist to date, so thanks for posting. I'll stay with my 50B brand for a while.
  8. 1) Needles (Belonephobia):  I use LabCorp for bloodwork and never see the same person twice. Went today and it was more than a misquito bite pain. I used deep diaphragmatic breathing to beat this phobia.   2) Doctor's Office ( Iatrophobia): Called white coat syndrome. Especially with  a new doctor. Higher blood pressure than normal? You get 140/70 and your labeled hypertensive. I take my Bp daily and  show my results to the Dr. He quickly retracts his opinion. It's stranger to stranger warfare( even after a year) with some of these people.   3) Blood (Hemophobia): Not to much of a problem if in a vial.    4) Anesthesia (Trypanophobia):  The risk is extremely low. At 67yo, went under for recent colonoscopy and endoscopy (Dec, 2012).  I'm still here.   The US Dept of Health & Human Services says men are 24% less likely than women are to see a doctor. Score one point for the ladies.  Avoiding doctors will hurt your health today and in the future.    What's your biggest  medical phobia?  Mine is needles(1).
  9. How Do I Use Multiquote? Help Please.

......... and hey, it worked.  I learned something new today. thanks.
  10.  Speech Title:  "An Attack by Celiac"
  11. I think Ground Hog Day is stupid.   My heating bill  was $449 (Jan) and $250 (Dec), respectively for two months.
  12. I'm currently using MegaFlora Plus by MegaFood. It's certified gluten free with 14 strains of good stuff @ 50 billion CFU. Also dairy free, soy free, non GMO,  tested free of pesticides and herbicides and vegetarian.
  13. My probiotic of one mouth contains some L. reuteri. Happy to become a one male mousekateer.
  14. Thanks for posting this Vit. E issue. I looked at my MultiVit. which listed Vit E(60 IU, 200%DV) as dL alpha T( the synthetic version). Need to find a new brand now.
  15. I've been eating these bars for about a year and concerning gluten, been fine with them. Depends on your sensitivity to gluten. GI Doc says I'm OK with 0 to 19 ppm as labeled gluten free. I drink a glass of water with each bar and it helps with digestion.
