  1. So the other night I( a ncgi) and my friend(celiac) decide to eat fried chicken. We cooked it the usual manner. The flour was rice flour and sorgum flour and we thought we were safe. Mere moments after eating we both start feeling horrible. We narrowed it down and discovered that the corn nor the rice were the suspects. We took a look at purdue's frozen chicken and made a shocking discovery. The chicken had been frozen in a broth that contained barley. We wee dumbfounded. So please be careful. The bag did not continue any allergy info and sadly there customer service was non-existing.
  2. I am currently using nutrobiotics vegan rice protein. It's an acquired taste at first but, I decided to mix with almond milk and it became quite enjoyable. I dis have to check specialty stores to find it, but totally worth not having any pain. Best of luck. Also I bought the chocolate one
  3. I'm in the same boat. Just found out abt gluten intolerance early January and having a hard time adjusting. I have glutened myself twice in the last two weeks and it certainly wasn't fun. Well I wish you the best of the non seasoned endeavor we are journeying on.
  4. So the other day I went to the movies to relax. I wanted popcorn so I researched by checking sites and actually calling the theatre. Everything pointed to me eating popcorn. So I ate, then my stomach died for the next 2 days. I felt like my old self again. Apparently my gluttonous self wanted butter and what I thought was a confirmed gluten free thing, wasn't. So never doing that again. Also my symptoms from b4 going gluten free are gone. G-O-N-E! I actually got up this morning and ate breakfast 10 minutes after being awake. My mind is clear and my skin looks better, and I have been gluten free for 3 weeks. Neat! Sincerely- "insert adjective here" zombie.
  5. Well ladies and gents of the internets, I have a silver lining to my thunderstorm. First ill start off by saying a little more abt me. I'm 27 and have been controlled by nerve racking pain and nasty other symptoms for the last 7 years. I've had trouble gaining weight in the process and always seemed to be at a vitamin deficit. Well over the past 8 days I have given up gluten and been feeling so much better. I know that this is a very short period of time but hey happiness can be found in everything. Since giving it up I have actually been able to semi take back control of my life. Stomach pains are almost non existing and I actually feel great. My family told me that I am not as grumpy and even seem to be considerably more alert. I spoke with my doc who wants to do more blood work and recheck everything. She seems very hopeful that we might have finally found an answer to my issues. Forgive my extreme happiness, I feel like I would burst at the seams if I didn't tell someone. God knows my family and friends are tired of hearing about it. Sincerely, - a happy zombie.
