Thanks for your reply. It's the tTg that's raised. That was the only one they checked. Isn't that just relevant to coeliacs? I do have autoimmune hypothyroidism as well.

Clear Scope But Still Raised Antibodies
      Hi all

I'm trying to get to the bottom of the cause of my remainig symptoms, which is difficult as I have other health conditions as well as coeliacs.

My last endoscopy showed that my villi are completely healed, but my antibodies are still slightly raised. I'm obviously getting some tiny amount of cross contamination somewhere but not enough to damage my villi. But given that my body is still producing antibodies, could that mean I'm still feeling the effects of gluten?

      Hi there!

I'm the same with fruit juices or cordials and tend to drink just water, but I could also do with more calories, so I know a bit about where you're coming from.

Can your son tolerate fruit at all? If so, you could try making a smoothie with rice milk and a bit of fruit.

Alternatively, how is he with veggies? Could you try veggie juices or even stock or soup? Or maybe something like bovril or another yeast extract type drink?

It's really difficult thinking of something that's quick and easy, which is what you need when you're a mum with a young child.

Another thought: my son likes fruit tea (cooled down a lot). That would be unsugary and you could add honey if your son tolerates it to add calories and sweetness.

      All the best.

Thanks Jin! DS was desperate to have a brother, but as soon as he knew it was a sister, he was very excited. He thinks all the pink stuff that's descending on us is very cute! He has told all his class at school in great detail about his baby sister He's very amused about the size of my tummy as well

      Hi Jin

I've just been trying to update my avatar with a scan photo, but it doesn't seem to be appearing on my posts, even though it's in my controls. Hmmm...will try to oblige when I can work out what's going on!

I finished work last Friday. I think I'd been feeling tired for sometime, but clearly the adrenaline of working and of the prospect of finishing work was keeping me going. I've rested more this week, but have been doing some stuff for DH's business. Some pretty stressful stuff was going on with the business last week, which is almost resolved now, but I'm sure that wouldn't have helped.

I've found a great place online that will do gluten free black pudding, which seems to be the only way my body will absorb the iron it needs lol! Only problem is, it contains onion, garlic & black pepper, all of which irritate my stomach. But I just got an email from the farmer who makes them to say he'll do a special batch for me and we can work out a recipe together. How great is that!

Hi Andrea, good to see you too

I'm 28 weeks pregnant as of today (yay!!) and feeling totally exhausted. I think I need to speak to Dr P about the whole adrenal fatigue thing again...and work out how I can actually absorb some iron, which I seem poor at doing and which mustn't be helping.

Did I tell you guys that I'm having a girl?

      Hi all

It's interesting about the foot pads. I used them earlier this year. I didn't use a full course, because I felt they were working too well! I used them at night and my sleep was really disturbed, so I thought they must be pulling something out of me. Who knows...they did look disgusting and, yes, they did get a little cleaner each successive night.

      Hi Jin <<big waves>>

      Thanks for the replies

With the weight thing, I'm speaking from my experience of doing the candida diet, although I appreciate the SCD is not the same, it's fairly similar. When I've done that, I've truly eaten masses, despite the extra work involved in prep, but have still lost weight. I'll have to give it some thought. I've obviously got some absorption issues going on there.

      Hi Ali

I'm not on the SCD coz I know I would lose weight doing it (I'm borderline underweight usually) and that would not be good being pregnant. However, I do want to clean my diet up as much as practicable in the circumstances and would lean towards a modified version of the SCD if poss.

I note that you said a page or so back that you get a pounding heart if you eat too many carbs. So do I! What do you put that down to? I've always figured it must be a blood sugar thing, but haven't thought too much about it.

My big dilemma with the SCD, as much as any diet I've tried previously, is how to get enough calories to survive, especially as many calorie rich foods upset my system. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated.

      Hi Ali

What probiotics do you use then? As I'm in the UK too I should be able to get hold of the same type as you use. I'm 27 weeks pregnant and my digestive issues flare up really badly during pregnancy. I feel in need of some probiotics! I have been eating goat's yoghurt and am not sure what's in that.

I've skimmed this thread with great interest and will try to contribute later. (just trying to juggle typing with looking after DS at the mo!)

April, does she suggest in the book what the easiest to digest foods are?

Thanks for everyone's best wishes and the PMs I've been in bed with flu the past couple of days, so haven't been around to post again.

Carla, it's incredible what you're having to go through because of a moldy mattress I'm glad you've found out and hope you feel much better really soon - hopefully this is a big bit in the jigsaw for you.

It's interesting to read the posts about doing the SCD, or just cleaning up the diet in general. When I was feeling much better earlier in the year, I'm sure a lot of it was down to simplifying my diet. But, like Andrea's said, I would really recommend making big batches of stuff and freezing it where possible. It's such hard work cooking from scratch, especially when you have a family (and in my case a job too), and if you add detox on top of that - aagh!! It's quite easy to give up! So you need to make things as easy for yourself as possible. Think especially about what you can have as allowed quick snacks, so you always have something on hand if you get hungry. That's my biggest problem!

The diet went out of the window for me when I got pregnant, because I was so sick and so hungry. I need to try and sort things out again, but obviuosly need to be really careful whilst pregnant. I've gone from having D every day in the first half of my pregnancy to C every day It's amazing what hormones do!!
