  1. Hello! I am new to this Celiac website... Is there anyone out there with Celiac AND extensive food allergies? My allergies include shellfish, dairy, eggs, cantaloupe, kiwi, mango, nuts, oranges, red dye, and more I can't think of. I went to the allergist about a year ago to see why I wasn't feeling well, and once everything was eliminated, I still didn't feel well. We did more testing to find out I had celiac as well as allergies to cattle as well as rye grass (I live on a farm basically). This was back in January 2016. I recently had my endoscopy with the gastroenterologist a week ago. I have no idea what to do or what to eat... So fish and potatoes for me!

Welcome!  You will find plenty of people here who have both celiac disease and allergies.  I think you will get a better response if you post a question or statement under one of our many forum topics like "Coping".

      Hi, ukuleleerika,

I was diagnosed in 2000. I could not eat fruit or even green salad for months until the villa damage from the gluten diet began to heal. The damage can be 'spotty' from what I began to understand. And when that damage from the antibodies attacking the tissue began to heal because when I stopped eating the gluten, the antibodies ' calmed down. And, when the parts of the villa that digest dairy started to heal, same reasons, I was then able to digest dairy without any trouble. It took me many months because I had a lot of damage to recover from. But, the body loves to heal itself. :) I am glad you are taking care of yourself and reaching out to this good support site. This is one of the places that helped me early on. Motivating to stick to the diet is what I found was the most necessary thing. And to learn what I could to be my own best friend and advocate. It is lots easier to shop now than 10 years ago. The wonderful gluten-free community has done so much to make that happen. Best wishes. I hope you click on the button to get notifications sent to you of replies to your posts. Best wishes, Anne
