  1. Same here. I don't eat much sugar, so the BBQ sauce is just an occasional treat. One of the reasons the dipping sauce caught my attention is that it only has 1 gram of sugar per tablespoon. That's for the "Signature" flavor; don't know about the others.

    Wow, I knew I hadn't been to this forum in a long time, but it looks like I haven't been here for TWO YEARS! Yikes! I've been looking for someplace to get my sweet-tooth fix since Cooqi and Madwoman closed, and last week I was surprised (and happy) to find that Cub carries a big selection of fresh baked goods from French Meadow. They had bread, raisin bread, brownies, chocolate chip cookies and little (5"?) chocolate cakes. They also had tortillas and cupcakes in the freezer case. I thought the prices were very reasonable, too: cookies and brownies were $1.29 each, four (small) cupcakes were $3.79 and a little chocolate cake was $3.99. Very convenient and it's nice to find baked goods that aren't frozen!
  3. I couldn't find any post on Sweet Baby Ray's new Dippin' Sauces, so I'll pass on the info I have. I've always loved Sweet Baby Ray's barbeque sauces, so I was excited to see "Dipping Sauces" in the store. After verifying that it was gluten-free, I tried the "Signature" flavor (which is a horseradish sauce) and it was DELICIOUS!!!   4. I second They have nuts that are certified gluten-free and the website tells you very clearly which nuts are safe. Service is fast and the nuts and seeds are absolutely delicious. Good prices, too!

    French Meadow is a bakery on Lyndale, just south of downtown. It's been there for at least 20 years. I haven't seen any of their gluten-free products at Target, but I'm going to take a look. Not to be a downer, but. . . remember that this is the company that was raided by the FBI a year or two ago for mislabeling products as gluten-free when they really weren't.
  6. It's been a while, so I thought I'd give an update. After about 3-4 months on the antibiotics, I started feeling MUCH better. Since then, I've been pretty stable -- not feeling better, but not feeling worse. But overall, I'd say I'm feeling better now than I have in 10 years. I've also noticed that my allergies, which usually start up in April have been very, very mild. I also dropped about 15 pounds without trying. I'm currently taking Doxy, Flagyl and Ceftin. I'm seeing my doctor at the end of the month, and she said she'll be changing the abx at that point. Also, last time I saw my doctor, I remembered to ask "How long will I be taking all these antibiotics?" and she said "Two years." I've been reading about how most doctors stop the abx treatement too soon, so I was actually relieved. She said she keeps people on the abx until they are symptom-free, and then an additional 6 months to make sure the lyme doesn't come back. So, I'm far from 'cured', but I'm cautiously optimistic about the future!

  8. Lack Of Sweating

    This used to by a HUGE problem for me. I have no idea why it happened, but it was definitely related to celiac. Before I went gluten-free, I would try to do any cardio exercise, and I could go for an hour and not have a drop of sweat on me. Of course, I'd have to drink like a gallon of water because I was so over-heated. I've been gluten-free for 3 years (next week!) and I'm sweating normally. It took about 2 years for me, and I (nor my doctors) have any idea as to why it happened. best guess is it's thyroid related. I found the same info as you (there's a patent for treating horses for anhydrosis using tyrosine). I used lots of tyrosine, but I don't recommend it. Basically, all it does is make your thyroid rev up and go hyper. So you will sweat -- but you'll also get shaky, stressed out and your hair will get dry but greasy. It took me about 2 years gluten-free before I was sweating normally, so I'd suggest you give it some more time. How long were you undiagnosed?

    Cheri, you have my sympathy. And I didn't realize that they had internet out there in the boonies. . . . Pizza Luce gets quite busy on gluten-free Days, so make a reservation if at all possible. Or you can carry out, too. If you're coming from far away, make a stop at Cooqi while you're at it and get sine desserts-- it's only about a few minutes from the St. Paul Pizza Luce. PS: My favorite is the Spanish Chicken pizza. YUM!

    There's a Chianti Grill in Burnsville, too. (Though why anyone would go to Burnsville, I don't understand!) Have you tried Pizza Luce in St. Paul (Selby & Hamline) yet? Tuesdays and Wednesdays are gluten-free pizza days!
  11. I have a question for those of you who've been on longterm antibiotics. I'm about 6 weeks into my antibiotics, and I caught a cold that's going around. Usually when I get a cold, I get rid of it pretty quickly -- a day or two usually. This one has hung on for at least a week and shows no sign of getting better. So I'm wondering if this is just a virus that hangs on a long time, or whether taking all those antibiotics may be affecting my immune system and making it harder to shake the cold. Thanks!

    There's a thread over in the "gluten-free Restaurants" section about this, but I thought I'd mention it over here in case any of you missed it: Pizza Luce's St. Paul restaurant is offering gluten-free pizza (and pasta and desserts) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The response had been very good, and they will be adding gluten-free pizza to their other restaurants, too. Definitely worth checking out!

    The St. Paul Pizza Luce has added Wednesdays for gluten-free Pizza, too. They said the response has been HUGE! I wonder if it may wear off over time, but Luce is definitely committed to the gluten-free market. (The crusts are from Cooqi, BTW) Pizza Luce was always my favorite pizza place before I found out I had celiac disease. My favorite is the Spanish Chicken. I had the mashed potato pizza last week. Yum! There really isn't any bad pizza at Pizza Luce.

  15. I've been feeling REALLY bad the past couple of days (about 3 weeks into my abx). My stomach hurts, I'm exhausted, my mouth is dry, skin is itching and my appetite is really strong.
